The Queenstown Marathon & Half Marathon is considered one of the most beautiful races in the world. With a backdrop of the Remarkables mountain range and lakeside views of Lake Wakatipu it is easy to see why. Always popular, these events fill to capacity every year.

Simple answer: New Zealand is too far to fly for only four nights.

Most international flights will arrive in Auckland, so you have to connect via here already. Auckland is an amazing city that ideally serves as a stopover and enhances your Kiwi experience. The three nights in Auckland will provide an opportunity to adjust to the time change as well. The four nights in Queenstown will allow you to enjoy and experience so many different exciting activities, including the race. As the "adventure capital of the world", Queenstown has something for everyone.

Welcome to New Zealand! Today you will arrive in Auckland. Upon clearing passport control and customs, make your way through baggage claim. Once you have your luggage, proceed to Ground services. Look for the Coddiwomple Travel sign. Your local driver will meet you and transfer you to the Rydges Auckland Hotel. The balance of the day is at your leisure. This evening we will gather for our welcome reception.

After breakfast today, we will make our way over to Waiheke Island. We will be able to explore this beautiful island, vineyards and enjoy a delicious meal before returning back across the bay to Auckland. (B, L)

After breakfast today we will embark on a day tour that exposes you to the real New Zealand, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. We will enjoy the sites, a light lunch, and wine tasting. (B, L)

After breakfast today we will make our way to the airport for our short flight to Queenstown. We will be met by our local guide who will drive us the Rydges Queenstown. Located just a short walk from city center, you have the balance of the afternoon to explore. This evening we will meet for our welcome briefing. (B)

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast this morning. Today, we can walk into town to visit the Expo and collect our race packets. The balance of the day is your to take in some of the outdoor activities. Queenstown, the adventure capital of the world, offers bungee jumping, gondola rides, and exhilarating shoot over boat rides. We will gather this evening back at the hotel for our private pre-race dinner. (B ,D)

After an early breakfast, you will take your transfer to the start of your race. While the race slogan is "Flat out Beautiful", it is anything but flat. Expect some hills. The course is a mix of road and packed trails. You will love the scenery as it runs along the lake with the Remarkables mountain range as the backdrop. (B)

Enjoy a late breakfast and then head out to explore all that Queenstown has to offer. Maybe bungee jump at the original spot? Maybe celebrate your race finish yesterday with a wonderful wine tour?

This evening we will walk together to the dock to board the TSS Earnslaw. This historic steamer ship will bring you across the lake to the Colonel's Restaurant. We will enjoy a fabulous dinner followed by a sheep shearing demonstration before returning back to shore. (B, D)

After breakfast today, you will be met by a local driver to head back to the airport. (B)
