Start your ride from a mountain pass in the Cascades, and throughout the week, you’ll be captivated by gushing waterfalls, tranquil lakes, majestic Mount Rainier, the Olympic Mountains, and the sparkling waters of Puget Sound. As you pedal through this diverse terrain in July, you’ll witness the region’s natural beauty in all its glory.
July in Seattle features average high temperatures in the mid-70s, low humidity, and virtually no rain—an ideal time to visit the Pacific Northwest. In the words of the famous song, you’ll experience “the bluest skies you’ve ever seen in Seattle” and “the hills the greenest green in Seattle.” For those who prefer to avoid the rain that Seattle is known for, plan your visit in July when the weather is typically perfect.

Each turn reveals a new vista, from the tranquil shores of Lake Washington to the expansive beauty of Puget Sound. Start your ride atop Snoqualmie Pass in the majestic Cascades. Descend along a rail trail beneath towering evergreens, passing through a long railroad tunnel that opens to spectacular views of the surrounding landscape. Cross impressive railroad trestles and finish at the awe-inspiring Snoqualmie Falls, where a 268-foot waterfall plunges from a rugged cliff into a misty pool below, creating a thunderous roar, it’s quite a spectacle.
Begin your day at Lake Sammamish State Park and pedal along the picturesque East Lake Sammamish Trail to Marymoor Park in Redmond. Take time to visit the Velodrome before continuing your journey. You have two scenic route options:
Option 1: Ride the 520 trail, passing through the Microsoft campus to reach the stunning new 520 bridge bike path. From there, connect to the Burke-Gilman Trail that will lead you to McMenamins Anderson School.
Option 2: Opt for a more leisurely ride along the tranquil Sammamish River Trail. This route allows for a stop at Woodinville’s renowned wineries before you arrive for the first of two nights at McMenamins Anderson School.
Cycle from downtown Snohomish on a paved trail tracing the old Seattle, Lake Shore, and Eastern Railway. This scenic 30-mile stretch showcases rural Washington, passing through the charming city of Arlington on the way to the historic Nakashima Barn. Enjoy an out-and-back ride for a full 60-mile adventure.
Start your day by heading south into Seattle on the Rail Trail Hall of Fame’s Burke-Gilman Trail. Ride through the University of Washington, enjoy stunning views of Seattle from Gasworks Park, snap a photo with the Fremont Troll, cross the Ballard Locks, and take in breathtaking views from Magnolia. Finish your ride along Puget Sound on the Elliott Bay Trail into downtown Seattle. Make a quick visit to the Olympic Sculpture Garden before settling into your overwater room at The Edgewater Hotel, the highlight of the week. After settling in, we’ll explore Seattle’s rejuvenated waterfront, tour Pike Place Market, and enjoy a group dinner to reminisce on the fun-filled day.
On our final day, you can choose how to wrap up your Summit to Sound experience. Take it easy and explore Seattle or enjoy one more day of scenic cycling.
Option 1: Seattle City Tour
Spend a relaxed morning at our luxurious waterfront hotel and take in a few last sights before checkout. We’ll visit some of Seattle’s most iconic attractions. Start your day at Pike Place Market before the crowds arrive, stroll through the Seattle Aquarium, or explore Seattle Center. There, you can ascend the Space Needle and experience the captivating Chihuly Garden and Glass exhibit.
Option 2: Optional Ride
If you prefer to end your trip on two wheels, join us for one final ride. We’ll depart from the Seattle waterfront and cross Lake Washington by bridge to reach the Mercer Island Loop. This scenic, cyclist-friendly route is a local favorite known for its rolling hills, winding turns, and beautiful views. After completing the loop, we’ll continue into Bellevue and ride south along the east side of Lake Washington, another well-loved route among area cyclists.
