About your trip

Prince Edward Island is affectionately known as The Million Acre Farm, and our routes will have you cycling through a riot of colour: verdant pastures that stretch out to scarlet cliffs, which drop into azure waters.

Experience one of Canada’s national treasures: our tiniest province. Known to many as the setting for Anne of Green Gables, this island is made for touring. You will experience red sandstone cliffs, scenic fishing villages and towering sand dunes as you cycle the island from one side to the other.

This cycling tour starts in Mill River and winds its way through Malpeque Bay and past the Bay of St. Lawrence, to the most easterly point of the island. On the way, we’ll pass through lovely villages, including Cavendish, North Rustico, Brackley Beach and Stanhope. The tour is designed to appeal to all levels of cyclists. P.E.I.’s highest point is only 400 feet above sea level — beginners don’t have to worry about being unprepared, but there’s still plenty to challenge more experienced cyclists.

Daily Itinerary

Day One — 30 km / 19 mi (easy)

A 9 am pick up will have you in our van and quickly outbound from Halifax to Mill River, P.E.I. and the start of the tour. Once in Mill River, we’ll adjust your bikes, and you’ll soon be off on a peaceful afternoon jaunt. This lovely ride will be a harbinger of delight, and the the start of a glorious week touring a gentle countryside that will touch your heart often. We’ll arrive at our inn early, and you’ll have ample opportunity to settle in before the welcome dinner.

Day Two — 80 km / 50 mi (easy to moderate)

Today’s bicycle ride flows along the rolling farmlands and picturesque fishing villages of Prince Edward Island’s North Cape Coastal drive, home to some of the island’s largest potato farms. The humble potato loves the island’s rich, red clay soil, so you’ll see verdant potato farms everywhere. But, keep an eye out for oyster fishermen and women working their nets in the island rivers. Prince Edward Island may be the smallest province in the world’s second largest country, but its bounty from land and sea is both famous and prized throughout the culinary world, from New York to Tokyo.

Day Three — 59 km / 37 mi (easy to moderate)

After a wonderful breakfast, you’ll head north out of Summerside towards Malpeque Bay and the Gulf of St. Lawrence. The blue slate of water will be punctuated with colourful fishing boats being manned by those busy catching your dinner for the evening. Our destination is Cavendish — a humble hamlet of less than 100 souls — that inspires pilgrimages throughout the world, especially among the Japanese, because it’s the home of Lucy Maud Montgomery and her famous red-haired heroine, Anne of Green Gables. After your ride, a swim is in order: The beaches here are washed by the Gulf Stream, and the water is refreshing. Another delicious dinner will be your reward for the day’s pedal.

Day Four — 46 km / 29 mi (easy)

Today’s gentle spin takes you into P.E.I. National Park, and you’ll soon be riding along the fabulous red sand cliffs of Orby Head and Cape Turner — a lovely ride! You’ll have time to take some photos as we move on toward North Rustico and then Dalvay Beach, your home for the night.

Day Five — Dalvay Loop Ride – 37.3 km / 23 mi (easy)

Today’s ride is purposefully short, so you can spend the afternoon at Dalvay, just a hop, skip and jump from your inn. Locals will tell you this is one of Eastern Canada’s best beaches.

Day Six — 50 km / 31 mi (easy)

Our ride today will take us to St. Peters Bay. Part of the journey can be along the secluded Confederation Trail, where the only traffic you might encounter might be a long-legged heron or an inquisitive squirrel or otter. After lunch, we will load the shuttle and head for Halifax.

*Please note: Itinerary is subject to change to provide our guests with the best tour experience.

Shall I dress for cycling on the first day?
There is cycling the first day; however, there will be time to change after the transfer to PEI.

Can I bring my own bike?
Absolutely! All bike types are welcome—road, gravel, hybrid, or e‑bike. If you’d prefer to ride your own bike, we’ll transport it for you on the back of the van if needed. Our team can also assist with basic maintenance and adjustments throughout the trip to keep you rolling smoothly.

Do bikes come with a bag?

Yes – all of our rental bikes come equipped with a rear bag (pannier or trunk bag) or a small bag (Road bike) to carry essentials like snacks, cameras, or extra layers while you ride. Larger luggage will be transported separately by our support van each day.

What happens if it rains on the tour?
Our tours run rain or shine! We recommend packing quality rain gear and layers so you can stay comfortable in wet weather. If the conditions become unsafe (such as high winds or lightning), our support van will be available to shuttle you and your bike to the next stop. We always adapt plans to keep everyone safe and comfortable.

Can I not cycle some days?
Yes! If you’d like to take a break from cycling, you’re welcome to ride in the support van to the next destination. Some guests choose to take a day off to relax and recharge by enjoying the views form the van. You are always able to call it a day cycling or start cycling at any point throughout the ride.

Is travel insurance included?
Travel insurance is not included in the tour price. We strongly recommend purchasing your own travel insurance to cover trip cancellations, medical expenses, lost luggage, and any unexpected events before or during the tour.

Do you provide the GPS routes?
Yes – we provide GPS routes for every tour. Before your trip, you’ll receive digital route files that can be used on a GPS device or smartphone app.

What size luggage can I bring?

We recommend bringing one to two carry‑on sized suitcases per person. This helps us fit everyone’s bags comfortably in the support van. Larger items are best left at home, but we can assist with storing any extra luggage that won’t be needed during the tour.

Are tips included in the price?

No – gratuities for your guides are not included and are left to your discretion. As a general guideline, we suggest $20–$25 per guest, per day, per guide. Gratuities for meals and lodging are covered, but bar bills and any personal extras are not included.

Are helmets provided?

Yes – helmets are provided and must be worn at all times while cycling, as they are mandatory by law and the tour operator. Guests are also welcome to bring their own helmet if they prefer to use one they’re already comfortable with.

What comes with the bikes?

  • Phone holders

  • Water bottle holder

  • Water bottle

  • Rear bike light
