About your trip

South Africa & Namibia: The Southern Africa Road Trip

A Journey Across Two Extraordinary Countries

From the vibrant energy of Cape Town to the surreal red dunes of Namibia, this journey takes you deep into Southern Africa’s most unforgettable landscapes. Together, we’ll trace the coastline, cross deserts, and witness wildlife in their natural habitats...all while soaking up the culture, cuisine, and soul of these two countries.

This isn’t just a trip. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime adventure designed for women who crave more: connection, discovery, and stories that will stay with you long after the (insanely long) plane ride home.

What To Expect

🌍 Two Countries, One Epic Itinerary
Discover the best of South Africa’s coastlines and vineyards before crossing into Namibia’s vast deserts, national parks, and star-filled skies. Please note that this is an overland style trip. There will be more moving around and trip inclusions given the nature of the destination. You are not required to take part in any inclusions you are not interested in if you prefer to rest or take on something else!

🦁 Wildlife & Safari Moments
From game drives to spontaneous wildlife sightings, prepare to see elephants, lions, giraffes, and more. Nature will meet you on its own terms. Please note that The Girls Trip Series does not guarantee animal sightings

Transformative Adventure
Whether it’s climbing a dune at sunrise, gathering for a sundowner with new friends, or sharing late-night conversations under the stars, t his journey is about more than just places. It’s about people, stories, and sisterhood.

🏡 Comfort-Style Accommodation
Our stays are chosen with care: clean, safe, and charming boutique hotels or lodges that feel authentic to each destination with an average of a 3.5-4 star rating. We’ve designed this trip around comfort...not five-star luxury, but not bare-bones budget either. Think cozy guesthouses and cute safari lodges that allow us to keep the experience accessible without compromising on quality. This balance ensures you can enjoy an incredible, once-in-a-lifetime adventure without the price tag soaring into $10K+ territory.

Who This Trip Is For

This trip is designed for women who want to step outside the ordinary. Whether you’re marking a milestone, craving adventure, or simply ready to prioritize yourself, this journey is a chance to:

  • Experience bucket-list moments in a safe, supportive group of women.

  • Travel without the stress of planning every detail.

  • Connect with like-minded travelers who become lifelong friends.

Please note that this is an overland style trip that will have long days and lots of moving. If you're looking to stay put in a single spot and have something super luxurious - this is not for you. We've tried to create a trip and price it as accessibly as we can (in Canadian $$) without going too budget in accommodations and compromising quality.

About Your Driver/Guide

On this trip we will be accompanied by a local guide who will also act as our driver. Their role is to enhance your experience in Southern Africa to ensure it's a truly memorable adventure. Our local guide will be knowledgeable in the landscape we travel through and our surroundings. This includes being able to provide us with details about animals, geography, ora and fauna, native customs and safety. With some luck, they’ll spot a leopard lounging in a tree, a giraffe enjoying the leaves of an acacia tree or introduce you to some of our local friends who call this landscape home. You can expect them to have a good level of English and to be able to help you book any optional activities listed in your trip itinerary.

Our driver and guide is like family to us. Please treat them that way. Gratuities at the end of the trip for them is highly recommend.

Passports, Visas & Entry requirements

PASSPORT
You’ll need a valid passport to travel internationally andmost countries require your passport to have a minimum of 6 months validity, so remember to check the expiry date. We need your passport information to get everything ready for your trip so it’s important that the information on your booking matches your passport exactly. Please take care to provide the correct details.

We recommend carrying a copy of the photo page of your passport while travelling and leaving a copy at home with family or friends.

VISAS & ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Please check to see if your country's passport required obtaining a visa. This is the responsibility of the traveller and not The Girls Trip Sereis. We recommend you check your visa requirements as soon as you have booked your trip. This will ensure you have time to prepare your documents and for your visa application to be processed. You can check the entry requirements for your nationality on your government's foreign travel advisories.

BORDER CROSSINGS ON THIS TRIP (Day 3): Exit South Africa - Viooldrift Enter Namibia - Noordoewer NAMIBIA:

If you require a letter of invitation or list of hotel confirmations for your visa application, please contact us.

Food & Dietary Info

Your group leader will endeavour to cater for specific dietary requirements where possible, and vegetarianism and gluten intolerance will be catered for. Please notify your group leader of any dietary requirements in your group meeting at the start of the trip. For those suffering from particular food allergies, your group leader will endeavour to disclose to their fullest knowledge the main ingredients in dishes being consumed. It is, however, your personal responsibility to ensure that you do not ingest any foods to which you are allergic.

Alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages are not part of included meals.

LODGE-PACKED MEALS: There are a number of days on this itinerary where your breakfast or lunch will be a ‘packed picnic meal’ provided by our lodge. Packed meals usually consist of a sandwich, a piece of fruit, a juice, and a snack such as crisps, nuts, muffin, or a muesli bar. On some days your crew will shop and prepare lunches themselves using the truck picnic gear and utensils. This usually happens when we have early morning game drives and want to get into the park by sunrise, are out in National Parks all day, or in some instances, en-route to our next destination when there is little or no alternatives.

Other Important Information

  1. This is an overland trip. That means you’ll be travelling with a group in a purpose-built vehicle, visiting remote communities, and getting the best possible views of Southern Africa's iconic wildlife. While the trucks don’t have air conditioning, they do have sliding windows that let in the breeze and make it even easier to take spectacular snaps of the local wildlife. The drive days can be long, but it’s as much about the journey as the destination, and half the fun is the camaraderie. We have also planned this trip to not be in the heart of soaring summer temperatures. This was intentional for both your comfort & animal sightings.

  2. There will be many early starts either to make use of the better safari time or to beat the morning traffic on long travel days.

  3. This trip booking will have you placed in a shared room with another traveller. An upgrade to a single supplement is available if you’d prefer not to share a room on this trip. The single supplement applies to all nights of your trip and is subject to availability.

  4. This trip finishes on arrival in Windhoek on Day 13. Please do not book any flights out this evening. The Airport is located 1hr drive out of Windhoek, and although we generally make it back to the city of Windhoek by 5:00pm, it can be difficult to get to the airport in time for flights. So we recommend you to either stay an extra night, or book fights late that night at your own risk.

  5. The weight of baggage that can be brought on this trip is limited by the packing space and weight restrictions of our truck. The weight limit for luggage is a maximum of 20kgs per person, plus a maximum of 5kgs for your day pack. Backpacks shouldn’t have an external frame unless it can easily be removed and stored separately to avoid damaging other people’s luggage. We strongly advise passengers to travel with a backpack or a duffel bag, and it is essential that no hard suitcases be brought on tour.

  6. The itinerary is subject to changes. Sometimes things come up when travelling that will require us to pivot. We ask in the event of adjustments, we are met with understanding and patience.

Cancellation & Departure Requirements

Please note that this trip requires a minimum of 8 women to run. The trip will be confirmed on or before June 5th, 2026. All trip payments are 100% non-refundable unless the trip is cancelled in which case all payments will be returned. This is an non-negotiable and by signing up you agree to these terms.

Filling the spot is the responsibility of the traveller and not The Girls Trip Series.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is compulsory on all our trips for those travelling internationally. We require that at a minimum you are covered for medical expenses including emergency repatriation. If you are travelling within your home country or region please confirm before travel that you are entitled to access the public medical system easily should an accident occur. We strongly recommend all travellers have a policy that also covers COVID-19, personal liability, cancellation, curtailment and loss of luggage or personal effects.

For international trips, you will not be permitted to join the group until evidence of travel insurance and the insurance company's 24-hour emergency contact number has been submitted.

Orange River, Namibia

Say farewell to South Africa as you cross the border into Namibia!!! Today is a bit of a long travel day, so it's a good idea to get your music playlists, and your favourite book and/or podcasts downloaded into your devices to pass the time. Mid-afternoon, arrive on the banks of the Orange River; the longest river in South Africa, running from the Drakensberg Mountain Range into the Atlantic Ocean. This river is signicant for its role in transporting diamonds, which leave deposits that are found along the coastline. When you arrive, enjoy the rest of the day exploring at your own pace.

Notes: We will have about 8 hours of travel time today.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 4

Day 4 image

Fish River Canyon

Spend a leisurely morning unwinding by the outdoor pool or soaking in the views of the Orange River in the morning light. If relaxing isn't your style, maybe head out on a canoe adventure along the river and through the ancient Richtersveld Mountains. Later, venture to Fish River Canyon: one of the biggest canyons in the world. Along the way, stop at various lookouts to catch this gigantic gorge on camera. Look out for some exotic birdlife while you’re here, including plovers, wagtails, hamerkops and herons – you might even catch a glimpse of a baboon or an antelope at dusk!

Sesriem

Today is a long travel day, so grab a window seat if you can or play some road trip games with your fellow travellers. Take in the ever-changing scenery as you drive, and when you arrive, maybe relax at your desert lodge or find a local restaurant.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 6

Day 6 image

Sesriem to Sossusvlei

Make an early morning visit to Sossusvlei, which lies at the end of an ancient riverbed. If you find yourself in the mood, a climb to the top of Dune 45 will reward you with panoramic views.

After breakfast, head to Dead Vlei – a clay pan surrounded by some of the highest dunes in the world, including ‘Big Daddy’ and ‘Crazy Dune’. When you arrive, maybe explore the area on foot or organise a 4WD transfer out to the entrance point.

In the afternoon, visit Sesriem Gorge. Shaped by water erosion over thousands of years, the place got its name, Sesriem (meaning ‘six belts’ in Afrikaans), from the people who lived in the area who used six knotted belts tied together to pull up water from the deep gorge.

Tonight, maybe join your group for dinner at a local restaurant – our local leader will have the best recommendations!

Day 9

Day 9 image

Uis

Travel to Brandberg today, with scenic stops along the way. First, visit the Zeila shipwreck near Henties Bay, Namibia — a haunting relic that ran aground after breaking free from its tow line en route to India for scrapping.

Continue your journey up the Atlantic Coast to Cape Cross, where you’ll witness the incredible sight, sound, and smell of thousands of olive-coloured seals gathered along the shoreline. Later in the day, arrive at your lodge near Brandberg. The rest of the afternoon is yours to enjoy — perhaps take a refreshing dip in the swimming pool or keep an eye out for desert elephants, which are sometimes spotted from the lodge.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 10

Day 10 image

Uis

Start Start your day with a morning desert elephant drive, where your guide will explore the area in search of these remarkable creatures. These are savanna elephants that have adapted to the harsh desert environment by developing longer legs and smaller bodies, allowing them to travel long distances and dig for underground water in dry riverbeds. The Ugab River is a popular area for sightings. Later, return to the lodge to relax before heading out on a sunset drive, where you’ll enjoy the stunning scenery of Brandberg and take in the spectacular desert sunset.

Included Activities: Morning Desert Elephant Drive & Afternoon Sunset Scenic Drive

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 11

Day 11 image

Etosha National Park

This morning, travel to Etosha National Park. When you arrive, you’ll head out on a short afternoon game drive. Due to Namibia protecting its game reserves against poaching, there are large herds of elephants, antelope and other herbivores here. Keep your eyes peeled for the resident wildlife! The rest of the evening is then free to relax.

Included Activities: Etosha National Park - Overland Vehicle Game drive

Day 12

Day 12 image

Etosha National Park

Today, you'll set off on a 4WD game drive through Etosha National Park. As you drive, look for black rhinos, Hartmann's mountain zebras, black-faced impalas, roan antelopes and the tiny Damara dik-diks. Game viewing in the park is relatively easy due to the man-made waterholes and the large, sparsely vegetated pans. Later, head back to your accommodation for another free evening. Join your group for dinner to celebrate the last night of your adventure.

Meals Included: Breakfast and Dinner

Included Activities Etosha National Park - 4x4 Vehicle Game Drive

Day 13: Departure Day image

Windhoek, Namibia

From Etosha National Park, you’ll head to Windhoek – an old German town that’s now a cosmopolitan centre. The Germanic architecture of this city contributes to its charming feel. Your trip comes to an end here. If you're staying in the area, the Tintenpalast (Ink Palace) and Genossenschaftshaus are well worth visiting.

Depart anytime after 9 PM. Because of the location of the airport, we recommend booking a night in Windhoek & depart the next morning to avoid any mishaps due to unpredicted delays.
