We start the classic Salkantay trek very early with the pick up from your hotel in Cusco and we go 3 hours to the trekking point. Before starting the walk you will enjoy a delicious breakfast (Soraypampa) after breakfast you will start with a constant uphill walk of 1.5 hours to the famous Humantay lagoon (4200 m.s.n.m). After exploring everything, you will start your way back to the starting point to continue to the lunch spot in Soyroccocha. This part of the Salkantay trek will be approximately 3 hours on gradually ascending terrain. Along the way, you will pass stunning places like the Salkantay Pampa, which means breathtaking views of the snow-capped mountains. These views are what make the trip more attractive. So we come to the point of lunch. After lunch prepared by the local chef of ALI PERU TREKS you will continue for approximately 1 hour until you reach the Salkantay Pass at (4650 mts). This is the highest point of the trek. There he will take a little rest
This will be the last stretch of the day's trek, to descend downhill for 3 hours to the camp for the night, Wayracmachay.
Then there is a happy hour with hot chocolate and coffee followed by dinner. The views on this day will be truly impressive.
We will start very early in the morning you will wake up early with a hot drink to help you start your day. , You will have time to pack up and enjoy a hearty breakfast prepared by your local trekking chef. During the morning there will be a brief team presentation between all the Salkantay trekkers and the ALI PERU TREKS staff to ensure an unforgettable and positive family experience. After the introduction, you will begin to descend downhill for approximately 3 hours until you reach the lunch spot in Ccollpapampa (2,700 m.s.n.m). During this part of the descent you will begin to notice changes in the weather. You will go from the cold views of the glaciers to the warm and green views of the jungle. There will be many different species of flora fauna orchids to see as well as wild birds and even hummingbirds of different sizes.
After lunch, the trek continues for 4 more hours gradually downhill until you reach our camp, along the way you will continue exploring the beautiful waterfalls, rivers and more flora and fauna. You will be able to experience the kind of climate where local people grow coffee, granadilla, oranges and avocados. You will have time to enjoy a nice hot shower, visit local families and of course dinner.
After a good night's rest we prepare for breakfast. Today you will explore the rainforest and visit a local organic coffee place where you will have the opportunity to explore some of the coffee and avocado plantations, as well as taste some of the freshly brewed coffee. During your visit to the coffee site, you will receive a briefing on the history of coffee in the region, as well as its importance to the area.
Then we head towards the Inca site llactapata uphill 3 hours up the Inca trail section during the way to llactapata we will encounter incredible views of the mountains and the Santa Teresa valley.
Arriving at llactapata you will have your first glimpse of machupicchu and the huayna picchu mountains. You will also have the opportunity to explore the Llactapata Inca site and take pictures. Leaving Llactapata, we begin a 2-hour descent to Hidroeléctrica, where we will have lunch. After lunch we will continue our trek on foot to Aguas Calientes, located at 2,050 meters/ 6,725 feet altitude. This section on foot will take approximately 3 hours. Arriving in Aguas Calientes you will go to your hotel then you can take the opportunity to visit the famous hot springs (10 soles, not included) we will have dinner in the town of Aguas Calientes.
Today will be a wonderful day to visit Machu Picchu: have an early breakfast before taking one of the first buses to Machu Picchu (from 5:30 a.m.). You will only need to carry your backpack with everything you need to Machu Picchu. The hotel will store your luggage for you while you are in Machu Picchu. The bus ride from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu Picchu takes approximately 30 minutes. We take the first buses to Machu Picchu for sunrise, Once in Machu Picchu your guide will take you directly to the best place to observe the sunrise and take pictures. Your local guide will show you the main sectors of the citadel for a total of 3 hours. During this guided tour, you will learn more about the history and culture of the Inca Empire, we recommend you return to Aguas Calientes no later than 2 hours before your train departs. The return train ride from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo will take approximately 2 hours. In Ollantaytambo our staff will be waiting for you, to take you back to Cusco by bus. The bus ride to Cusco will take approximately 2 hours and you will be dropped off at your hotel in Cusco.
