Duration: 2 days diving / 3 nights
Geographically, the Musandam peninsula juts into the Strait of Hormuz, the narrow entry into the Persian Gulf, from the Arabian Peninsula. The Musandam Peninsula is an enclave of Oman, a picturesque region separated from the rest of the country by the United Arab Emirates
Musandam has one of the most breathtakingly dramatic landscapes in the world, with the northern Hajjar mountain range dropping vertically into the sea. The rugged "Fjord-like" coastline is dotted with hidden coastal villages, rich in long-standing history and traditions in dhow building and fishing.
In this remote and other worldly region you can dive, cruise in a dhow along the fjords, relax in hidden beaches, explore the mountains in a 4×4, immerse yourself in the local customs and discover prehistoric art in hidden caves. The peninsula is like no other place on Earth, where fun and surprises come in waves
Oman has one of the wildest biodiversity of marine life in the world and in Musandam you will be the only diving group in the area.
Turtles, lobsters and huge batfish are so curious and unafraid to approach and play with divers.
On a diving experience you may encounter whale sharks, leopard sharks, black tip and grey reef sharks, Mola Mola, Devil Ray’s, Mobula’s, Eagle Rays and turtles. You will be blown away by the varieties of nudibranch, pipefish, scorpionfish and morays. This trip we will be heading out to dive with the Leopard sharks
The dive centre is located no more than 1 mile away from the Atana Khasab Hotel, our recommended stay, and is a well equipped diving centre, with a reception area, soft seating area, camera room and upstairs classroom. The outside affords views onto the water, with a seating area, toilets and showers, wet tanks to wash your dive kit and dry room to hang your suits, fins, masks and regulators. There are two daily boats at the dive centre equipped with all necessary dive requirements
The choice of accommodation is a bed and breakfast option at the Atana Khasab which is surrounded by the majestic Musandam mountains and overlooking the Strait of Hormuz. Proximate to the hotel lie the fjords that contributed to the epithet, "The Norway of Arabia". A true haven for those who love the great outdoors, Atana Khasab offers the perfect setting to explore the history, culture and landscape of an archaic city.
