A city of a thousand minarets, Cairo greets us with movement, history, and life layered across centuries.
Upon arrival at Cairo International Airport, you’ll be warmly welcomed and transferred to your hotel. This first day is intentionally gentle - a chance to shower, rest, and recover from travel.
In the evening, we gather for a calm welcome and intention-setting circle. Before dinner, we will introduce ourselves, ground into the space, and set personal intentions for the journey ahead. No sightseeing takes place today, this is a soft landing into the retreat.
Rising from the desert sands, the Pyramids of Giza stand as a reminder of human ambition, time, and humility. This morning, we journey to the Pyramids of Giza, taking in their scale and presence in the quiet hours of the day. Standing before these ancient wonders invites reflection on legacy, impermanence, and perspective.
We continue to the Grand Egyptian Museum, where artefacts spanning thousands of years reveal the story of one of the world’s oldest civilisations. In the evening, we head into the heart of Islamic Cairo for a visit to Khan El Khalili, wandering lantern-lit alleyways, browsing handcrafted goods, and soaking in the city’s vibrant atmosphere.
Today is devoted to Cairo’s spiritual heart — a living legacy of faith, scholarship, and devotion. With a knowledgeable local guide, we explore Islamic Cairo, visiting Al-Azhar Mosque, Al-Hussein Mosque, and Amr Ibn Al-Aas Mosque. Time is woven in for prayer, reflection, and quiet presence in these sacred spaces.
History meets harmony as we explore Cairo’s elevated landmarks and green spaces, ending the day with a moment of spiritual presence.
We ascend to the Citadel of Salah El-Din, visiting the Mosque of Muhammad Ali and taking in sweeping views across the city. From there, we make our way to Al-Azhar Park, often called the lungs of Cairo, where we enjoy lunch surrounded by greenery and panoramic views.
As evening approaches, we gather for a gentle spiritual nasheed circle — a moment of remembrance, stillness, and shared presence before enjoying a relaxed evening in modern Cairo. A calm and fitting close to our final day in the capital before the journey continues.
Leaving the bustle of Cairo behind, we catch a 1.5 hour flight south to Aswan, where life slows and the Nile flows wide and calm. Colourful, welcoming, and rich in culture, Aswan offers warmth in every sense. Today we visit Philae Temple by boat before continuing to a Nubian village, where we’re welcomed with tea, stories, and local hospitality. The afternoon unfolds slowly, with time to connect, explore, and absorb the rhythm of daily life along the Nile in our Nile-side accommodation. In the evening, we gather for a gentle reflection circle, allowing the shift in pace to soften the body and mind.
The Nile has carried seekers, traders, and travellers for millennia — today, it carries us gently onward. After morning prayer and adhkar, and enjoying a nourishing breakfast, we spend the day sailing on a private felucca. We will drift past palm-lined banks and stop at Elephantine Island and the Aswan Botanical Garden along the way. Lunch is enjoyed on the water, with space for conversation, journaling, or simple stillness taking in the beauty of the ancient landscapes before us. As the sun begins to set, we return for a relaxed dinner by the Nile, letting the day settle softly within us.
Leaving the gentle rhythm of Aswan behind, we journey north toward Luxor, following the path of the Nile through Upper Egypt. Along the way, we stop at the Temple of Hathor at Dendera, a site historically associated with beauty, femininity, harmony, and balance.
Arriving in Luxor, we check into our hotel. Across the Nile lies a landscape shaped by mortality, memory, and power - where ancient rulers prepared for the afterlife. Later in the day, we explore the West Bank, visiting the Valley of the Kings, Valley of the Queens, the Temple of Hatshepsut, and the Colossi of Memnon. These sites invite contemplation on legacy, impermanence, and the passage of time.
An optional early morning hot air balloon ride in Luxor offers a breathtaking view over the Valley of the Kings as the sun rises across the desert. Towering columns, carvings, and ancient inscriptions surround us as we explore Luxor’s East Bank.
We visit Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple, walking through spaces once filled with ceremony, devotion, and communal life. The scale of these temples offers a powerful contrast to the stillness of Aswan — awe balanced with presence.
A short boat ride to Banana Island provides a lighter interlude, with tea, shade, and gentle conversation. The evening is free, with the option to attend the Sound & Light show for those who wish, or to enjoy a quiet night in.
From desert landscapes and ancient stone, we travel east toward the Red sea.
Arriving in a quiet Red Sea town, the pace of our journey noticeably shifts. After checking into our coastal resort, we gather for a reflection circle focused on integration creating space for the experiences of the journey to begin settling inward. The remainder of the day is free to rest, swim, or simply sit by the sea to reflect on all the amazing sites we've experienced over the 9 days together.
Today unfolds with lightness, ease, and gratitude. We spend the day aboard a private yacht, island hopping, swimming, snorkeling, and sharing lunch on the water. The Red Sea offers openness and spaciousness — a natural contrast to the density of history we’ve moved through in the days before.
This final day is intentionally unstructured — a chance to slow down, take it all in, and enjoy the ease of the Red Sea. Spend the day resting by the beach, journaling, booking a massage or spa treatment, or doing some last-minute shopping at your own pace.
In the evening, we gather for a farewell dinner and closing group reflection — a calm, meaningful way to mark the end of the journey and honour the sisterhood formed along the way.
Our journey gently comes to a close as we get ready to depart after our final fajr together and morning adhkar. After breakfast, we transfer together to Hurghada International Airport, carrying the experience home - grounded, integrated, and changed with connections and memories that will last a lifetime InshaAllah.
