You’ll have an opportunity to soak in the pleasantly warm mineral-rich water. Meal: B
Reykjavik, Iceland’s capital city of 100,000 people, is unique in many ways. This capital is a modern city with a variety of restaurants, museums, galleries and theaters. Heated entirely by geothermal water, it is home to the “smoking bay”, so named for the rising steam that greeted the city’s Viking founder, Angolfr Arnarsson, as he sailed into the bay here in 874 AD. The city center is the heart of Reykjavik and home to many charming historic buildings of stone and timber contrasting with imaginative modern architecture. It has the features of a modern society complemented by a close connection to natural wonders right on the city’s doorstep. Hot springs, glaciers, lava fields, midnight sun, waterfalls, northern lights, volcanoes and bizarre landscapes – the city has them all!

The park is also the most historic site on the island as the world’s oldest democratic parliament was founded here in 930 AD.

Start the day at one of Europe’s most powerful waterfalls. Fed by the massive Vatnajökull river, Dettifoss crashes 45 m (150 ft) into a canyon, creating an incredible display of raw glacial power. Dettifoss checks off our #5 top waterfall in Iceland that we will experience up close.
Just upstream, Selfoss waterfall offers a wide, scenic series of cascading falls along the powerful Jökulsá á Fjöllum before the river flows north to the Arctic coast.

Rauðhólar is part of a crater chain formed by eruptions about 9,000 years ago.
At Asbyrgi see this awe-inspiring horseshoe-shaped canyon surrounded by cliffs and forest—one of the most unique landscapes in North Iceland you will experience.
End the day in the charming coastal town of Husavik on Skjálfandi Bay, famous for whale watching and home to the famously beautiful wooden church Húsavíkurkirkja.

Goðafoss Waterfall is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Iceland. Nicknamed the Waterfall of the Gods due to its history. The water falls from a height of 12 meters (43ft) over a width of 30 meters (99 ft), listed as #4 of top 5 waterfalls in Iceland.
Skútustaðagígar Rare pseudo craters formed when hot lava flowed over wetlands and lakes, causing steam explosions. These unusual formations around Lake Mývatn are some of Iceland’s most striking natural monuments.
Dimmuborgir was formed in an eruption that occurred in the area 2,300 years ago
when lava flowed over a lake and trapped steam beneath it. The resulting explosions left behind towering lava pillars, caves, and formations that resemble a dark medieval fortress with its many hidden chambers and rising towers.
Grjótagjá is a small lava cave near Lake Mývatn in Iceland. It has a thermal spring inside. In the early 18th century the outlaw Jón Markússon lived there and used the cave for bathing. Until the 1970s Grjótagjá was a popular bathing site.
Hverir Geothermal Area is a dramatic landscape of steaming fumaroles and bubbling mud pots. Bright mineral deposits and sulphur crystals paint the ground in vivid colors—along with the area’s unmistakable sulphur smell.
Nature Baths (optional)
Drawing on a centuries-old tradition, the tastefully designed complex offers bathers a completely natural experience that begins with a relaxing dip amidst clouds of steam rising up from a fissure deep in the Earth's surface, and ends with a luxurious swim in a pool of geothermal water drawn from depths of up to 2.500 meters.
Admission fee is included, yet if you don't want to partake in the bath, you may enjoy a nearby viewpoint with refreshments.
A perfect way to end the day before we head back to the hotel for a final evening to relax and prepare for travel home.
