An entirely new sporting experience in the Patagonia National Park, inspired by the conservationist vision of Douglas Tompkins, the nomadic life led by the Tehuelche tribes and the resilience of the first settlers.
Patagonia Trail Camp is set to take Trail Running to the next level, discovering in 9 days of training and connection with nature, the secrets that the Patagonia National Park hides, cross-country crossing in "nomadic" 5 of its sectors (Valle Lunar, Jeinimeni, Alto Valle, Valle Chacabuco and Tamango).
Starting point at Arturo Merino Benitez airport, Santiago de Chile to arrive at Balmaceda airport, Aysen Region. From there we will start our transfer by the Austral highway and transfer to a ferry through incredible landscapes, to enter the commune of Chile Chico and arrive for lunch at our first CAMP on the shores of Lake Jeinimeni, in the Patagonia National Park.
We will take a bus to the Lunar Valley, where we will live our first trail running experience and the only one that will bring together the three levels in the same circuit, to have lunch at an amazing viewpoint full of mysticism and traces of the Tehuelche or Aonikenk people. Then we will go to visit Chile Chico, "City of the Sun".
We get ready for our first big challenge by levels, where we will run along lakes, crossing frozen rivers and estuaries. The hard school of Patagonia has begun! This adventure will end on top of a bus or on foot, to reach another emblematic sector of Patagonia National Park and what will be our second camp: "Alto Valle".
We wake up in an open and green space, on the Argentinian border side as we will start a new day of trail running through a place more unknown by visitors, with large windy esplanades, which connect with Lake Cochrane, stepping on portezuelos and beach, we will have lunch at an emblematic viewpoint, which bears the name of "Douglas Tompkins". Then we will return to our camp to rest and freely choose different activities, such as a visit to the Lucas Bridge Museum.
We get ready to get on the bus and arrive at the Casa Piedra sector, where we will begin different level crossings that include vertiginous crossings over hanging footbridges, to then arrive at a lagoon with a variety of bird species, where we will have lunch and finally head to the heart of the Park, the administration of Valle Chacabuco and the camp, "Los Westwinds".
This is the day for the body to rest and recharge with different experiences. We will visit the emblematic confluence of the Baker River with the Nef River, we will have a traditional Patagonian style party and contact with the deepest legacy of conservation. We end a rounded day with a movie under the stars.
Patagonia is a land of low hills, however, a trail running experience must accumulate elevation gain with the conditions of Patagonia. This day will test the three groups, to reach the mountains to the "Land of Pioneers" through the traditional Huemul Pass. That will connect us with Cochrane and Tamango sector, to reach our last camp, "El Embarcadero". In this sector you will find individual tourist services to travel in different ways the river and Lake Cochrane.
The adventure has been hard, but there is still rough terrain along the river and Lake Cochrane, where we will run through the most visited sector of the park through its incredible cliffs, lagoons, landscapes and colours. Here the experience begins to reach its end, where our journey is crowned with a gourmet dinner in the town of Cochrane, to take a night bus back.
After a night of travel on the southern highway, we arrived at Balmaceda to take the plane that will take us back to Santiago with the heart of Patagonia, remembering the spectacular experience, the challenge achieved, new friends and lessons to continue running around the world.
