Field Research & Wildlife Experience in the Heart of Belize
Embark on a truly unique conservation journey—of the crocodilian kind!
Join our Wilde Tracks Collaboration Crocodile Research & Wildlife Conservation Course in Belize — a hands-on, immersive experience set in one of the most ecologically diverse regions on the planet. Over the course of 14 or 30 days, you'll work directly with crocodiles, primates, and a wide range of native species while contributing to real-world conservation efforts.
Choose the 14-day program for an intensive introduction to field research and wildlife conservation. You may track crocodiles by day and night, monitor nests, assess biodiversity in lagoons and mangroves, and participate in mangrove restoration through the Belize Mangrove Alliance. You may also engage in community outreach and learn key field skills under the guidance of experienced scientists and conservation professionals.
Opt for the 30-day program for a deeper dive that includes all of the above, plus additional primate research and bird. As an extended participant, you may take part in howler and spider monkey monitoring—some of whom are rescues from the illegal wildlife trade—and contribute to long-term studies on primate behavior and habitat use. You will also spend three dedicated days assisting in bird rehabilitation, supporting recovery and soft release back into the wild—a rare chance to contribute to avian conservation firsthand.
You’ll be staying in local hostel-style lodging close to the Croc Centre. Meals are not included, but you’ll be within walking distance of grocery stores and local restaurants where you can enjoy Belizean flavours and cuisine at your own pace.
Throughout the course, you'll gain personalized mentorship and hands-on training in ecology, research methods, animal handling, parasitology, genetics, and more. Whether you're a student, early-career biologist, or passionate wildlife enthusiast, this course offers an unforgettable opportunity to make a real impact—supporting science-based conservation that protects both species and ecosystems.
