As part of this incredible organisation, you’ll be right at the heart of the action, assisting with surgical sterilisation procedures to tackle the issue of animal overpopulation and ensure healthier, happier futures for these animals.


But the excitement doesn’t end there! NAWA is constantly buzzing with activity, as you’ll be called upon to respond to animal emergencies that walk in—whether it’s a stray with a serious injury or a sudden, life-threatening situation. You’ll need to think on your feet, act quickly, and work alongside a dedicated team, all while striving to save lives and provide immediate care.

Head to Rhino Momma Project, Dart Guns Practical, Wildlife Vet Med

 Prepare for an unforgettable adventure as you head off to the renowned Rhino Momma Project, where you’ll have the chance to meet the incredible project leaders and collaborate with a team of wildlife vets who are at the forefront of conservation. This is your opportunity to be part of something truly extraordinary, working alongside passionate experts dedicated to protecting Namibia’s iconic rhinos.


But the excitement doesn’t stop there. You’ll not only gain valuable insights into the project’s vital work, but you’ll also dive deep into the world of wildlife conservation as you learn the intricate physics behind dart gunning—an essential skill for safely sedating and immobilising rhinos for their protection. This isn’t just about learning techniques; it’s about mastering the art of darting, precision, and timing, all while understanding the fine balance between the science of sedation and the safety of the animals.

This is your chance to be part of the action, assisting with rhino dehorning and collaring, two of the most vital operations in protecting these magnificent creatures from poaching and ensuring their future survival.

Feel the rush as you work alongside expert wildlife vets, taking part in the precise and careful process of dehorning, a lifesaving procedure that helps reduce the risk of rhinos falling victim to poaching. You’ll also play a key role in collaring, equipping rhinos with GPS tracking devices that help conservationists monitor their movements, protect their habitats, and understand their behaviour in ways that were once unimaginable.

You’ll be captivated by the historic German colonial architecture that lines the streets, offering glimpses into the past while juxtaposed with sleek modern developments. As you wander, you’ll encounter landmarks such as Christ Church, a stunning example of the blend of European and African influences, or the Tintenpalast, the seat of Namibia's parliament, an imposing and important building steeped in history.


Windhoek is a city of vibrant contrasts, and as you explore, you’ll be drawn into its cultural heart. Today, you’ll dive deeper into the heart of the action, assisting with vaccinations, wellness checks, and tackling any emergencies that come through the clinic doors. Whether it’s ensuring that a group of street dogs gets their much-needed vaccinations or offering immediate care to an animal in distress, you’ll be on the front lines, helping to safeguard the health and wellbeing of the community’s animals.


You’ll get hands-on experience, learning from the seasoned NAWA vets as they work their magic, ensuring every animal is treated with care and compassion. From routine check-ups to handling urgent medical cases, every task will offer a new challenge and the chance to make a real difference in an animal’s life. The pace is fast, but with each success, you’ll feel the deep satisfaction of knowing that you’ve contributed to improving the lives of animals who need it the most.


Once the work at the clinic is done, the adventure continues as you head off to a wildlife orphan farm stay, a truly unique experience where you'll meet the rescued residents who call the farm home. This is no ordinary stay—it’s a chance to step into the world of animal rehabilitation up close. From young animals that have been orphaned to those recovering from injuries, the farm offers a sanctuary where you can witness the incredible work being done to give these animals a second chance at life.
