A basecamp sup adventure exploring the rich coral reefs and white sand cayes of Lighthouse Atoll
After several years of running Coral Islands trips we have added a new experience in our 10th year of running trips in Belize with Island Expeditions. We are heading to the spectacular Lighthouse Reef Atoll, Belize’s most remote island group. A marine protected area and UNESCO world heritage site, located fifty-six miles off the shore of the Belize coast. We will stay on Half Moon Caye, where you will spend six memorable nights exploring the area by paddleboard. Managed by the Belize Audubon Society, Half Moon Caye is the perfect base to go out and explore the wonders of the coral reef system. A trip highlight is paddling to the Great Blue Hole where we will also snorkel the rim on one of Jacques Cousteau's favorite dive sites. If you have been on our Coral Islands Trip to Glovers Reef and Tobacco Caye then this trip will be the perfect compliment and a new area of Belize to experience.
