Dia de los Muertos is a time when families create beautiful altars, or “ofrendas”, adorned with marigolds, candles, and photographs to welcome the spirits of the departed back to the world of the living. Remember the Pixar movie, “Coco?” Yeah - we’re about to live it as we visit the town that inspired it all!

In addition, we’ll taste Oaxaca’s incredible food scene, take a cooking class in a local’s home, visit artisan shops, a mezcal distillery (and drink a lot of mezcal and tequila), tour the ancient ruins of Monte Alban, and go swimming in a beautiful calcified lake called Hierve el Agua. 

Our adventure doesn’t end there! Later, we’ll head to the stunning coast of Puerto Escondido for some time to unwind on pristine beaches, enjoy the laid-back surf culture, and explore the natural beauty of Oaxaca’s Pacific coast. We’ll be releasing baby turtles into the water, savoring fresh seafood, and simply relaxing on the beaches and watching the sun set. Puerto Escondido is the perfect way to cap off an extraordinary trip.
