For the 3rd year in a row, we are heading to the Pacific Northwest! This trip takes us right to the heart of the Columbia River and - if the weather plats nice - out into the mighty Pacific Ocean. We'll be chasing some of the best seafood the coast has to offer, with crab pots dropping and lines in the water for sea bass and other bottom fish.
Picture this: the boat rocking as we watch the buoys filled with sea lions dance, the excitement of pulling up pot filled with big, feisty crabs, and the nonstop action of reeling in bottom fish. It's hands-on, high-energy, and full of laughter as we work together and cheer each other on. The cooler will fill fast with fresh catches, and so will our camera roll with memories.
Between pots dropping, expect plenty of girl talk, salty sea air, and maybe a few fish tales to retell later. Whether we stick to the Columbia's calmer waters or head out to the Pacific for bigger action, there will be no shortage of fun, food and adventure. By the end of the trip, we'll be tired, salty and possibly a little sunburned - but guaranteed to be smiling with handfuls of crabs and fish, sore arms and a haul of seafood to prove it.
This is the ultimate coastal harvest experience! Whether you're a seasoned angler or new to fishing, this trip is designed to be fun, empowering, and unforgettable. With two amazing, knowledgeable guides and a small group of adventurous women, this is more than just a trip, it’s a chance to disconnect, connect with nature, and enjoy the thrill of harvesting your own fresh seafood.
We will be catching bottom fish, which include Lingcod, Rockfish and Sea Bass, but not only will we be catching fish, we will be trapping Dungeness Crab. The limit for crab is 12 and 3 bottom fish, per person, per day. Both Friday and Saturday, we will head out of the boat launch early, fishing and trapping until late afternoon.
Please plan to transport your fish and crab home with you. Our guides will do all of the processing and cleaning at the dock. You will have the option to have your crab steamed at the dock as well. If you will be flying with the fish/crabs, I highly recommend bringing a cooler, or purchasing a cooler on the trip and checking it onto the airplane. If you prefer not to carry on the airplane, shipping home can always be an option as well.
For this trip, you will need an Oregon or Washington Angling & Shellfish license for this trip. There is an option for short-term fishing/shellfish licenses available (1-3 day options). Gear will be provided by the guide.
FUN FACTS! Dungeness crab are found in the Northeastern Pacific Ocean, from Alaska to Mexico. There are many different species of rockfish found in the Pacific Northwest. Rockfish is ideal for fish tacos and fish and chips.

We want to ensure that every trip with Her Wilderness is enjoyable and memorable, but we acknowledge that sometimes things don’t go as planned. Mother Nature has a significant impact on our outdoor adventures, so we encourage you to approach each trip with a positive attitude and a "go with the flow" mindset. If this feels unreasonable to you, we kindly ask that you reconsider registering for our events. Weather can be unpredictable, affecting activities like hiking, hunting, and fishing, and our top priority is always your safety. For instance, if your trip is focused on duck hunting but our guide believes a goose hunt is more feasible, we will follow their expert recommendation. If this kind of flexibility is not something you're comfortable with, we encourage you to think twice about joining us. We expect all participants to maintain a positive attitude, regardless of the circumstances. Many of our trips have faced changes, cancellations, or rescheduling, yet the understanding and adaptability of the group have made all the difference that still allows for an incredible experience! We take pride in creating fun experiences, even in challenging situations. Please be aware that our trips may involve sharing accommodations with others, unpredictable weather that could impact planned activities, limited bathroom facilities for larger groups, and the possibility of not harvesting the specific animal you hoped for. These are real scenarios that can arise, and while we’ll do our best to minimize issues, they can happen. We strive to maintain a drama-free and stress-free environment. If any participant brings negativity or drama, they will be asked to leave without a refund and will not be allowed to return. Our goal is to ensure that everyone feels comfortable and valued, so we ask for your cooperation in keeping a cool, calm, and collected attitude throughout the trip. We truly appreciate each of our customers and are committed to providing the best possible experience for all participants. Thank you for understanding, and we look forward to creating unforgettable memories together!
We’re thrilled to announce a new booking and payment system aimed at enhancing your experience! Starting October 1, 2024, all trip registrations will be processed through WeTravel. Once you register, you’ll receive a confirmation email via the WeTravel platform. Your trip coordinator will then reach out with detailed information about your adventure and schedule two virtual video meetings for all trip attendees. The coordinator will share their email and other contact information with you at their discretion, so please respect their boundaries and contact them only through the provided information. A quick reminder: personal social media profiles are not the best way to reach out to your coordinator. During the virtual meetings, hosted on Google Meet, you’ll discuss important details such as packing lists, travel plans, and more. To ensure smooth communication, please register with a valid email address that you check regularly. If you have any questions or need assistance regarding the trip, don’t hesitate to reach out to us at questions@herwilderness.co. We look forward to making your experience exceptional!

Anticipate on arriving to Oregon on Thursday, this will be a travel day. We will all meet at our Airbnb, we'll take time to upack, settle in, and get comfortable. Once everyone's settled, we'll head into town for a casual dinner together - perfect time to get to know each other. Afterward, we'll prep our gear and talk plans for the morning, so we're ready to hit the water bright and early for a full day of fishing and crabbing.
Friday morning will be our first day out on the water. We'll meet our Guide at the Marina. Between dropping crab pots and reeling in fish, our day will be packed with action and plenty of laughs. After the adventure winds down, we'll head back to the marina for fish cleaning & crab steaming. Once done at the marina, we will head back to the Airbnb to refresh and relax before another dinner in town together, sharing stories from the day and gearing up for whatever tomorrow brings.
Day 3 kicks off back at the marina for another exciting day on the water. We'll check the crab pots, chase after more fish, and enjoy every bit of time spent out on the water. Fish cleaning & crab steaming will occur once back at the marina. After wrapping up, we will head back to the Airbnb to clean up and head out for another dinner on the town.
On departure day, we'll check out of the Airbnb in the morning and get everything packed up. Fish and crab will be boxed and ready for travel, making sure everyone's haul is set to go. After a final round of goodbyes, we'll head our separate ways with coolers full of seafood and memories from a great weekend on the water.
