About your trip

The Slow Draft is a long weekend retreat for writers who want to warm up their voice again—without pressure, without hustle, without anyone asking for a word count. (But if you have a word count goal you need to accomplish, this will be the perfect spot to hide away and get it done.)

We’ll gather in a cozy New England home and write together, separately, or not at all. Because sometimes the most important part of writing is to just... rest. Expect snow-draped mornings, roaring fireplaces, long writing blocks, nourishing meals, and a community of creative souls who value process over anything else.

This retreat is for all kinds of writers—those deep in a project, those starting something new, and those simply curious to reconnect with their story.

What to Expect:

+ Daily guided writing sessions + open quiet hours
+ Optional workshops on craft, voice, and flow
+ Fireside readings and casual evening hangs
+ Shared meals (you don’t have to cook!)
+ Cozy rooms, thick socks, and space to breathe

You don’t need to be productive. You just need to be present.

All meals and lodging included. Just bring your words.

*accessibility note *

I want The Slow Draft to feel safe, welcoming, and restful for every kind of writer. If you’ve been burned by inaccessible spaces or high-pressure environments, this retreat is intentionally designed to be the opposite.

If you’re neurodivergent: We’ll provide flexible structure, low-sensory spaces, and quiet hours built into the rhythm of the day. You’ll never be required to share or participate in a certain way. We’ll also include a detailed retreat schedule in advance so you know what to expect

If you’re hard of hearing or deaf: We can offer printed handouts of any group content, visual cues during gatherings, and make sure you’re seated where lip reading is possible. If you need additional support, let us know—we’re happy to work with you.

If you’re chronically ill or disabled: As soon as the venue is confirmed, we’ll share specific details about stairs, bathrooms, bedrooms, and mobility access. We’ll do everything we can to accommodate your needs and help you rest well

If you’re deconstructing or carrying religious trauma: There will be no devotionals, altar calls,  prayer time, or spiritual pressure. Just good food, soft blankets, and space to be who you are, where you are.

If you're not sure whether this space will work for you, email us. We’d love to talk with you and make adjustments wherever we can. This retreat isn’t just for “ideal guests”—it’s for real people. Including you.
