About your trip

For adventurous skiers and splitboarders chasing rugged terrain and glacier-to-sea descents, this is your ticket into Norway’s wild north. Our small group size keeps each journey personal, so it’s best to book early.

Tucked deep in Norway’s Loppa region is one of Europe’s most remote ski touring destinations, where soaring peaks drop into open fjords and skiers are few and far between. With IFMGA-certified guides, you’ll climb couloirs, trace ridgelines and ride untouched slopes. This isn’t just a ski trip; it’s an Arctic expedition on your own terms.

Highlights Include

  • Skin up and ride down wild slopes far from the crowds, with routes adjusted to your skill.

  • Drop into untouched terrain and deep snow straight from camp, depending on the weather.

  • Immerse yourself in the stillness of the far north—vast, rugged and rarely seen by others.

  • Stay in the moment while a pro photographer captures the adventure, with a curated photo gallery to keep.

  • Experience Arctic living at a fully equipped Advanced Base Camp high in the mountains, if the weather’s on our side.

  • Get a taste of local cuisine: fresh seafood, hearty stews and traditional Arctic barbecue.

  • Travel with the best: an IFMGA-certified guide who knows the terrain inside and out, balancing safety with deep local insight.

Activity Levels

Our trips are immersive and hands-on, created to help you connect with nature and push your boundaries. Feel free to move at your own pace, but prepare for an active outdoor experience.

You’ll skin up glacial peaks and ride down rugged, open mountains—in places most never reach. This trip is best suited for agile, experienced skiers and splitboarders who are looking for a challenge and feel at home in the wild.

  • Average day: We’ll ascend and descend around 1,000-1,500 vertical meters (3,280-4,921 feet), spending four to six hours on the mountain. Our two expert guides will tailor each route to match group experience and conditions.

  • Challenge day: If the snow, weather and group align, we’ll take on steeper, longer routes—spending six to eight hours in the wild. It’s not tied to a fixed day but always on the radar.

Climate Conditions

  • Weather: Daytime temps typically range from -4°C to 7°C (25°F to 44°F), with nights dropping to -11°C to 5°C (12°F to 41°F). Expect a mix of snowfall, clear skies and steady winds around four to five metres per second (nine to 11 miles per hour).
  • Terrain: April brings longer days, stable snowpack and excellent spring skiing conditions.

Accommodations

Our handpicked stay is locally owned, full of character and deeply connected to the landscape and culture. Expect comfort without excess, welcoming hosts and nature right at your doorstep.

We’ll spend the first part of our trip at a cosy cabin cluster in Nuvsvåg, with sweeping fjord views, a warming sauna. Expect cabins with shared bathrooms and single beds (details that add to the authenticity of the local stay).

Midway through our trip, depending on weather conditions, we may move deeper into the mountains to a fully equipped Advanced Base Camp, sleeping in expedition-grade tents and living off-grid without heating, showers or toilets. While warm meals keep you fueled, the real luxury is outdoors—you’ll ski straight from camp into untouched terrain.

Global Rescue Travel Protection

In addition to mandatory travel insurance (covering helicopter Medevac and SAR), we recommend a membership with Global Rescue for extra coverage.

Klättermusen Experiences partners with Global Rescue, which provides worldwide medical and security assistance. Without coverage, emergency evacuations can cost over €80,000/$100,000.
