About your trip

This mindful diving experience will guide you to explore the Pacific in a way you never have before—taking note of every color, every beat of the heart, and every sensation underwater. The goal is to cultivate a calm mind and an open heart, preparing you for a true connection with the stars of the season in El Chocó: the magnificent whale shark!!

Under the guidance of your PADI Instructor, Isabel, this trip offers a deep dive into the extraordinary marine life of Chocó. You will embark on four dedicated dives for the incredible opportunity to encounter the magnificent whale sharks, the ocean’s gentle giants. And that’s just the beginning of the adventure!

We’ll have a special opportunity to visit a local non-profit, Mama Orbe, where we'll learn about sea turtle conservation and, with a little bit of luck, witness neonates make their first journey to the water. After a day of adventure, we'll hold one dedicated afternoon yoga class to help you relax and restore your body.

This incredible dive trip includes accommodations, transportation, all meals, and diving activities.

Bahia Solano

Nestled on Colombia's Pacific coast in the department of Chocó, Bahía Solano is a true hidden gem where the dense, vibrant jungle meets the vast Pacific Ocean. This remote and biodiverse paradise is celebrated for its incredible wildlife, becoming a seasonal home for the magnificent whale sharks. Beyond this spectacular encounter, its waters offer world-class diving, while on land, you can explore pristine beaches and hike to stunning waterfalls. It's an off-the-beaten-path destination that promises a profound connection with nature.

Our journey to Bahía Solano is part of the adventure itself, a gateway to a truly remote and pristine paradise. To reach this hidden gem, your first flight will take you to Medellín (MDE). From there, you'll take a short ride to the smaller, domestic Olaya Herrera Airport (EOH) to catch your onward flight to Bahía Solano (BSC). This transfer between airports is a common and seamless part of the journey.

Whale Sharks

During their seasonal migration, the ocean’s gentle giants—the whale sharks—make their extraordinary appearance in the waters of Chocó. Encountering these magnificent creatures is a sacred meditation in itself, offering a rare opportunity to connect with the planet's pulse and find a moment of conscious awe in their majestic presence.

Beyond their majestic presence, these creatures are full of surprises. Despite being the largest fish in the ocean, they are gentle giants with a diet of tiny plankton. Every whale shark has a unique pattern of spots on its skin, just like a human fingerprint, making each one an individual masterpiece and a testament to the ocean's most peaceful and extraordinary wonders.

Not already a certified diver?

As a reminder, all participants must be certified divers to join this expedition, and proof of certification will be required.

If you're not a diver yet, don't worry! There's plenty of time to join the worldwide diving community. I am offering an exclusive opportunity to get certified with me in Cartagena just before our trip. In just two days on Isla de Rosario, you can become PADI-certified for life, experiencing two different oceans in less than 10 days!
