The fertile soil and mild summers create perfect conditions for the agriculture of an enormous variety of crops - which in turn produce an unparalleled color palette and geometry for photographers to appreciate. Endless rolling hills of wheat, barley, and legumes bring countless shades of green, while blooming canola brings striking expanses of yellow that gleam on a sunny day. This tour is for the photographer who enjoys peering deep into the landscape to find unique compositions, pulling in details from miles around, and strolling through areas steeped in agricultural history.
This tour is easy. Just hop out of the car, walk around and shoot. Some strolling around paved streets. Maybe an optional hike in the woods of Kamiak Butte, which would have some elevation gain.
