About your trip

You are invited to join an immersive experience with yoga, culture + nature on the island of Sicily this September 2025. Sicily, the southernmost part of Italy, and in particular the eastern part of the island, is close to my heart as it has been my home for the last 5 years. I am in awe of the land’s raw beauty and I am grateful for the kindness of the communities inhabiting it. I am bursting with excitement to share some of my favorite places, experiences + tasty treats with you.

Our home for the week will be a villa with spacious grounds overlooking the sea amidst citrus grooves and under the watchful eye of Mt. Etna – an active volcano (don’t worry, it is a safe very slow erupting volcano, not the explosive kind). Each room has an ensuite bathroom and modern + eclectic luxurious appointments. The property has sprawling grounds that include a large pool with sea and volcano views, private access to a pebbly beach, a large vegetable garden, tons of orange and lemon trees, lots of outdoor space to do yoga, to hang out and enjoy organic connection with each other during free time or to explore nature on a walking meditation through the orchard.

In addition to practicing yoga, meditation and other wellness modalities daily, we will adventure on several excursions off the property to explore historical sites, enjoy the charm of small mountain and fishing villages, discover the natural phenomena surrounding us and enjoy traditional and unique Sicilian dining experiences.

Meet Sharon - Your Guide + Teacher

Sharon Murriguez has been teaching yoga, fitness + mindfulness classes in the San Francisco Bay Area since 2008. She loves blending these modalities in vigorous well balanced vinyasa yoga classes that incorporate a combination of breath, physical exertion, equanimity and meditation to serve the needs of your body, mind and soul. Sharon also enjoys practicing and teaching the gentler modalities of restorative yoga, pranayama (breath work), yoga nidra (yogic sleep), meditation and sound baths.

She has led more than 15 yoga teacher trainings and has served as a mentor for yoga teachers as they find their path to teaching. Sharon grew up in New York (she’s a Bronx girl) who spent most of her adult life living in the San Francisco Bay Area. She moved to Sicily at the end of 2019 to explore a new way of living and culture. She spent a year as the Yoga Director at a Vegan Hotel in the Dolomites – located in a breathtaking World UNESCO Heritage Site in Alto Adige, one of Italy’s northernmost regions. In this role she designed and led yoga classes where she had the opportunity to meet students from all around the world and share the practice of yoga with multilingual groups. She currently teaches public and private yoga, movement + meditation classes in Sicily. Last year, she co-hosted a yoga podcast called Peace, Planks + Prana – a Yoga Podcast dedicated to the yoga experience and ALL things social, spiritual + spicy – with episodes available on YouTube, Spotify + Apple.

She loves how sharing the gift of yoga naturally builds community. In particular, she is drawn to crafting and hosting full immersive experiences for all levels of yogis and humans who are interested in combining a culturally immersive travel and/or retreat experience with the practices of yoga, meditation, mindfulness and self discovery. These experiences include international weeklong retreats (her favorite events to guide), long weekend get-aways or daylong workshops and community events that bridge yoga + mindfulness practices with the culture, nature and community that surrounds us all.

She aims to create a safe space that encourages you to get into your body with movement-based yoga practices, pranayama, meditation, sound experiences and other somatic and mindfulness techniques so that you can feel your most grounded and confident self.
