Lima City Tour: Colonial & Modern Lima with Larco Museum Visit (SIC)
Today we will discover the two sides of Lima: the modern city, represented by the districts of Miraflores and San Isidro, and the historic city, embodied in its UNESCO World Heritage–listed Historic Center. We will delve into Lima’s colonial history as we explore its streets and plazas, admiring iconic buildings such as the Government Palace, the Cathedral, and the Archbishop’s Palace, among others.
We will also enter one of Lima’s most iconic religious sites, the Convent of Santo Domingo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that houses the relics of three Peruvian saints: Saint Rose of Lima, Saint Martin de Porres, and Saint John Macías.
The tour would not be complete without a visit to the Rafael Larco Herrera Museum, one of the most important museums in the country. It houses a remarkable collection of nearly 45,000 pieces from pre-Hispanic cultures, especially the Moche civilization. The museum stands out for being one of the first in the world to offer open storage and virtual access to its entire collection. We will admire its exquisite jewelry, textiles, and the intriguing “erotic gallery” dedicated to fertility-themed ceramics.
