We recommend booking your flights as soon as they become available. Keep in mind that most flights to Ghana depart the day before your arrival date. For example, if you leave the U.S. on January 11, you will likely arrive in Accra on January 12. Be sure to carefully check both your departure and arrival dates when purchasing your ticket.
If your itinerary includes a layover in Europe or the Middle East, be aware that missed connections could result in delays, sometimes pushing your arrival to the following day. While this isn’t common, it’s something to plan for.
For the smoothest experience, we recommend taking a direct flight from the U.S. Options include:
Delta Airlines from New York (JFK)
United Airlines from Washington, D.C. (IAD)
Of course, you’re welcome to fly with whichever airline works best for you.
All flights should be booked to Kotoka International Airport (ACC) in Accra, Ghana.
Passport Validity
Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your return date and contain at least two blank visa pages. For this trip, your passport should not expire before July 30, 2026. If it does, you’ll need to renew it before traveling.
Visa Requirement
All travelers are required to have a visa to enter Ghana.
Standard Option: Send your passport to the Ghana Embassy in Washington, D.C. for visa processing before the trip.
Alternative Option: Choose Visa on Arrival. We also offer an Airport Visa Concierge service add-on for $300, which allows you to secure your visa upon arrival. This service includes expedited deplaning, visa, and immigration processing — and eliminates the need to mail your passport to the embassy.
Health Requirement
Ghana requires proof of yellow fever vaccination for entry.
A non-refundable deposit is required to secure your spot. The deposit amount varies by package and will be applied toward the total trip cost. Please note that this deposit cannot be refunded under any circumstances.
We understand that unexpected changes can happen, but because our trips involve pre-paid arrangements and non-recoverable expenses, the following cancellation policy applies:
Cancellations on or before November 30, 2025 → Eligible for a 50% refund of the total amount paid (minus the non-refundable deposit).
Cancellations on or after December 1, 2025 → No refunds will be issued.
Important Details
All cancellations must be submitted in writing through your WeTravel registration account.
Refunds (when applicable) will be processed within 7–10 business days after we receive your written request.
We highly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance that includes trip cancellation coverage for added protection.

Day 6 is a journey of 'power and glory' as we trace the historic pathways of Cape Coast. This profound day offers the chance to stand in places where history’s weight is deeply felt by walking through the castles, honoring the resilience of ancestors, and reflecting on the triumph of spirit over unimaginable trials. It is a day of reverence, remembrance, and renewed strength, as we draw power from the past and carry its glory into the future.
Departing from Accra, we’ll travel about four hours to the Central Region, where history, memory, and healing converge.
Our first stop is Assin Manso Slave River, a sacred site where enslaved Africans took their last bath before being sent to the coast. This powerful place offers space for reflection, remembrance, and connection to the strength of our ancestors.
Afterward, we’ll pause for a seaside lunch at Oasis Beach Resort (included in your package). This boutique property along the shores of Cape Coast is the perfect backdrop to restore and reflect, where the sound of waves meets Ghanaian hospitality.
The day continues with a guided tour of the Cape Coast Slave Fortress, where the walls bear witness to centuries of history. Walking through its corridors is both sobering and transformative, offering an opportunity for healing and reconnection with ancestral roots.
This experience involves a moderate activity level—expect stretches of walking, some stairs, and periods of standing, with time to rest as needed. To stay comfortable, wear lightweight, breathable fabrics, comfortable walking shoes, and sunscreen. A sunhat and sunglasses are also helpful. Members of the Divine 9 are encouraged to proudly wear their organization’s t-shirt in honor of the journey.
Day 6 is a celebration of impact and elegance. We begin by dedicating time and resources to empower women and make a lasting difference. As evening falls, the energy shifts to regal African splendor.
Mother’s Release Project
Restoring dignity by freeing new mothers from maternity jail.
In some local hospitals, mothers who are unable to cover their delivery costs are kept in what is known as “maternity jail”—unable to leave with their newborns until the bills are paid. As part of this journey, you’ll have the opportunity to visit a hospital and contribute toward releasing these women, offering both freedom and dignity to new mothers while making an immediate and life-changing impact.
This experience involves a moderate activity level, with walking through hospital grounds, standing for periods of time, and engaging in meaningful interaction. To stay comfortable, we recommend lightweight, breathable clothing, comfortable shoes, and sunscreen, along with a sunhat and sunglasses for time spent outdoors.
Members of the Divine 9 are encouraged to wear their organization’s t-shirt as a visible show of unity and support.
