Departs at 4:00 pm
Brisbane’s Airtrain makes getting from the city to the airport easy. If you’ve got a little time up your sleeve before departure, it’s worth ducking out of the CBD and exploring a couple of inner-city favourites. Paddington is known for its op shops, cafés and independent boutiques, while Fortitude Valley is home to Chinatown, James Street shopping, and great weekend markets.
Your ship departs promptly at 4:00 pm, so we recommend arriving at the terminal at least 2–3 hours early to allow plenty of time for check-in and boarding.
The good news is that once you’re onboard, many of the ship’s amenities are already up and running — so you can start the holiday straight away. We often arrive around 11:00 am to midday and head straight to the Windjammer for lunch.
If you’re planning to spend extra time in Brisbane before or after the cruise, you might find our free printable helpful — it’s packed with family-friendly ideas for “Brisbane on a Budget.” You’ll find it on our website in the Store section.
Your Day at Sea is where the holiday really kicks in — and the best part is, so much is already included.
From your morning coffee to late-night entertainment, you’ll find loads of family-friendly fun at no extra cost. Grab a snack, jump in the pool, catch a show, let the kids disappear happily into Kids Club, then meet back up for dinner and a dance party — all in one easy, stress-free day.

Pool time, plus fun pop-up activities like silent discos and dance parties
Pickleball and sports courts
Towel-folding fun and quirky activity sessions (yes, it’s a thing — and kids love it)
Solarium (a calmer space to recharge — especially nice during nap time or downtime)
Some of the ship’s biggest “wow” experiences may have an extra cost depending on sailing and availability — like:
iFLY
North Star
Bionic Bar
Spa services and some specialty fitness classes
But even without adding a single extra, you’ll have more included options than you can fit into one day — which is exactly what makes sea days such a highlight for families.
Start your day soaking up the best of Airlie Beach — a relaxed seaside town that’s perfect for families. Begin with a stroll along the Bicentennial Walkway, with ocean views almost the whole way, then cool off with a swim at the Airlie Beach Lagoon or nearby Boathaven Beach.
If your family is keen for a bigger adventure, you can also book a half-day trip out to the Whitsundays — think turquoise water, reef snorkelling, and those postcard-perfect beaches. You can snorkel on the edge of the Great Barrier Reef, or stretch your legs on rainforest walking trails and quiet beaches around Molle Islands National Park.
Airlie Beach’s Main Street is very walkable from end to end, so you can easily get around on foot without needing public transport.
Viper Jet Boat to the Great Barrier Reef & Whitehaven Beach (6 hours)
Fun in the Sun Cruise (3 hours)
Tall Ship Evening Cruise (2 hours 30 minutes)
Inner Island Turtle Kayaking Tour
As a special bonus, we’ll run an informal family meet-up at Airlie Beach — think easy-going games, beach sports, and a chance for the kids to make friends while parents connect too. Families can come and go anytime, and you’re welcome to join for as long (or as little) as suits your plans.
Please note: this is not a drop-off service. Parents and caregivers are responsible for supervising their children at all times.
Day at Sea – Round Two
Another day at sea means more time to do all the things you didn’t quite get to on the first sea day — or to go back and do your favourites all over again.
Maybe the kids spotted bumper cars but ran out of time, you missed the trivia session, or someone decided after dinner that they really wanted to try the rock wall. This is your chance.
Use today to:
Head back to Seaplex for more active fun
Squeeze in that dance class, game show, or sports session you missed
Book a quieter morning at the pool or Solarium
Catch another live show or performance
Let the kids settle into Adventure Ocean while parents enjoy a coffee, a walk around the ship, or a fitness class
There’s no rush, no transport to organise, and no schedules to juggle — just the freedom to follow your family’s energy and interests.
Sea days are often the ones families talk about most, simply because they give everyone space to relax, reconnect, and enjoy the ship at their own pace.
Welcome back to Brisbane, the sunny capital of Queensland.
If you’ve got a bit of time after disembarkation, South Bank is a perfect option for families. You can wander the riverside parklands, pop into nearby museums and galleries, or let the kids burn off energy at the man-made Streets Beach — a favourite with locals. And if you’re extending your trip, Brisbane is also the gateway to two iconic beach regions: the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast.
Before everyone rushes off, take a moment to do the important stuff:
Swap contact details with new friends (parents and kids!) so the connections don’t end when the cruise does
Snap a final group photo
Make a quick plan for who’s staying in touch via your group chat or Facebook group
The cruise may be finishing, but the friendships and memories are only just getting started.
If you flew into Brisbane for the cruise, be mindful of your flight departure time and allow plenty of buffer for disembarkation, luggage, and getting to the airport.
