Give your young equestrian the experience of a lifetime!
Joychasers Experiences Equestrian Teen Gap Weeks offer the unique opportunity to gain independence, self-reliance and stronger confidence and capability through immersing in new cultures. Joy’n us for two weeks in France living the excitement of the Longines Global Champions equestrian tour, the pleasure of daily horse riding in the French countryside, and, of course, the joie de vivre of Paris.
We will kick off our adventure with a welcome dinner and the glittering lights of Paris. The following day we will connect to the international equestrian community as the Longines Global Championship Tour Paris takes over one of the most iconic venues in the sport, beneath the Eiffel Tower. The day will be spent living the thrill of show jumping at its very best.
After the whirlwind first days, we will happily settle in as the spirit of the City of Lights envelops us. Our days will be spent traversing museums, learning the city from a new vantage point via a Seine River cruise, and catching the Eiffel Tower glitter after dark. Of course, there will be ample time to wander the streets and cafes, sample plenty of pastries, and search for the perfect souvenir. The week will include a day trip to explore the Chateau du Versailles where we'll traverse the paths of Marie Antoinette, and take in the equestrian show - La Voie de l’Écuyère - including a tour of the palace stables. Another outing to 'City of Horses' - Maisons-Laffitte - will be spent on horseback discovering the forest of Napoleon - Saint-Germain-en-Laye - and its surroundings. Our time in Paris will be capped off by a day at Disneyland Paris! After the magic, it’s off to the fresh air of the French countryside.
The high speed train will deliver us to Angers where we will live our passion with twice daily horseback rides with a fantastic training team and a roster of 60 horses, including 25 Icelandic horses. Riders of all levels begin their day choosing the horse and discipline on which they would like to focus. From trail rides, learning the five gaits of Icelandic ponies, jumping horses, dressage work, and pony games, riders will care for and communicate with the animals while deepening their own confidence and self-reliance. Each day will also allow for moments of quiet and group fun.
Following camp, we will return to Paris via high speed train, and enjoy a farewell dinner where we will reflect as a group on our time together. The night will be spent at a hotel near the airport to accommodate for various departure times the next day.
The teens will stay in shared, same-gender accommodations in four locations, Paris city center, a property near Disneyland Paris, the equestrian camp, and an airport hotel. In Paris we will stay in a secure historic building specially designed for sports and educational groups, and certified by the French Ministry of Education and Youth. Our prime location allows us easy access to the entire city. The night before Disneyland Paris we will stay in a hotel with easy access to the park. In Angers the teens will lodge in an historic farmhouse that has been renovated to comfortably accommodate campers.
