South Africa Fellowship Program

Experience South Africa through our fellowship program. We will be visiting schools, engaging with local culture, and much more.

Terrain:  Cobblestone walking and city walking.  Some Steep hills.

Activity Level:   Moderate to High (lots of walking)

School Visit:  Yes

This trip offers immersive professional development through school visits, allowing educators to engage directly with local teachers and students, observe classrooms, and participate in meaningful dialogue about education systems around the world. These experiences foster fresh perspectives and practical ideas to bring back home.

Professional Development – High Level

This trip includes educator discussions, offering authentic opportunities for cultural exchange and professional growth. While you may not be matched with your exact grade level, you’ll gain meaningful insights to reflect on and bring back to your classroom. Participants will receive a certificate for 50 professional development hours. The true magic of PD on this trip comes from the organic conversations and connections you make with fellow educators along the way.

Graduate Credits- In addition, we have partnered with an accredited university to allow participants to earn 1 graduate credit for an additional $100 or 3 graduate credits for an additional $300.

About Inverdoorn

Inverdoorn Big 5 Private Game Reserve is just under 2.5 hours’ drive from Cape Town, in the malaria-free Ceres Karoo. The reserve is also home to a successful cheetah conservation project and has made a significant contribution to sustaining the biodiversity of the region.

The 10 000 hectare private game reserve offers luxurious Big 5 safaris for overnight guests. All members of the Big 5 – the elephant, lion, rhino, buffalo and the elusive leopard – are represented at Inverdoorn. The wildlife is thriving and during your safari you may come across herds of eland, gemsbok and zebra, or hippos wallowing in the dam. The rhinos are a distinct highlight at Inverdoorn.

In 2012 Inverdoorn became a luxury Big five safari destination, after the introduction of elephants onto the reserve, accompanying the lion, rhino, African buffalo and the elusive leopard. The cheetah rescue and rehabilitation centre was founded in 2001 and is home to a great number cheetah.

Together with a profusion of wildlife which includes zebras, hippos, giraffes, wildebeest and springbok, our guests are sure to have an unforgettable safari experience.

Our Mission

1. Inspiration & Well-being

Global travel ignites personal reflection and enhances emotional and mental wellness.

2. Elevating Teacher Leadership

We support educators to grow as leaders who can advocate for systemic improvements.

3. Creating a Community of Changemakers

Teachers come back ready to shift practices, row policy, and open possibilities in education.

general icon

Why We Exist?

Teachers often lack access to inspiring global experiences that boost reflection, well-being, and leadership. Without equitable support, transformative growth remains out of reach, and so does systemic change in our schools. Through our work with school leaders, Teachers of the Year, Deans of the Department of Education, and school systems abroad, we aim to create possibilities like these:

  • Access for All — Educators deserve the chance to grow, regardless of financial barriers.

  • Global Connection — Cross-cultural experiences broaden perspectives and foster empathy.

  • Community of Support — Shared journeys create lasting bonds among passionate teachers.

  • Ripple Effect — Investing in educators uplifts entire classrooms and communities.
