Unleash your inner adventurer and embrace the challenge while immersing yourself in the rich culture and warm hospitality of Nepal. Let us encourage and guide you on this unforgettable expedition.

Sherpa Half Marathon

The Sherpa Half Marathon and 10K is an adventure trail race. With a starting altitude of 6300", with descents to 5500" and ascents to 7300", participants can expect a challenging course. It is well supported with water stops, check points, and distance markers, marking the course throughout. Providing a six (6) hour time limit allows participants to run and walk, and still make the finish time.

Post Race Trekking Option

Trekking in Nepal is an adventure, starting with the initial flight to Lukla, home of the famed landing strip, as the gateway to Mount Everest Trek. While the trek extends all the way to Everest Base Camp, our journey will take most trekkers as far as Tyangboche. Accommodations along the trek are in teahouses. These are basic with ensuite bathrooms, but without heat. Most trekkers will find heat in the main dining hall of the teahouse. This will also be the source for the best WIFI signal. Our trek will start at 9383" in Lukla. You can expect to trek for 3-5 hours daily. The terrain can change from stone steps to lose packed dirt, to snow dusted trail. Our turnaround point is Tyangboche, t 12,687". Some folks can start to feel altitude sickness at 4,000". This trek is not for everyone and demands a certain level of fitness in order to enjoy and complete the trek successfully.

It should be noted that there is an option to trek all the way to Everest Base Camp. Accommodations and services beyond Tyangboche drop off in quality, warmth, and amenities. Expect colder (not cooler) temps as you continue. Warm clothes, warm socks, mittens, thicker jackets, and sleeping bag would be required.

With this type of activity at altitude, completion of the expected trek is not guaranteed. Altitude sickness can affect even to most fit of athletes, even if you've trekked at higher altitudes without incident previously. It is the discretion and authority of your local Sherpa to determine your health condition and safety.

The route also consists of a number of high suspension bridges over the Dudh Kosi River that you need to cross.   Just beyond the village of Monjo is the entrance to the Sagarmatha National Park, which was set-up in order to protect and preserve the fragile mountain environment (your guide will cover your permit fees here). The trail gets steep along the way, and if the weather is clear, you will get the first glimpses of Mount Everest. When you arrive at Namche, settle into your accommodations and explore the town. Namche is a great place to stock up on supplies, such as chocolate, as there are numerous small shops selling snacks and trekking gear, as well as restaurants and bars. If here on a weekend, check out the Saturday market—a meeting place for the Hindu traders from the lowlands and the Tibetan yak caravans that have crossed the glaciated Nangpa La. (B,L,D)
