Rongai Route climbs start at $2,100 per person, with final pricing based on group size and trip details—larger groups benefit from lower per-person rates, while solo travelers receive a customized quote due to fixed operational costs.

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where you’ll be welcomed and transferred to your host hotel. Settle in, meet your guides, and prepare for the adventure ahead.
Elevation: 6,500 ft (1,980 m) → 8,600 ft (2,625 m)
Hiking Time: 3–4 hours
After breakfast, you’ll drive to the Rongai Gate near the Kenyan border to begin your trek. The trail passes through farmland and forest before opening into moorland. You’ll arrive at Simba Camp for your first night on the mountain.
Elevation: 8,600 ft (2,625 m) → 11,300 ft (3,450 m)
Hiking Time: 5–6 hours
Today you’ll continue your steady ascent through open moorland with expansive views of the surrounding landscape. You’ll reach Second Cave Camp, where you’ll rest and take in the quiet, remote side of Kilimanjaro.
Elevation: 11,300 ft (3,450 m) → 11,800 ft (3,600 m)
Hiking Time: 3–4 hours
This shorter day supports acclimatization as you gradually ascend toward Kikelewa Camp. The terrain becomes more dramatic, with wider views and a noticeable change in vegetation.
Elevation: 11,800 ft (3,600 m) → 14,200 ft (4,330 m)
Hiking Time: 4–5 hours
After breakfast, you’ll climb toward Mawenzi Tarn, set beneath the striking spires of Mawenzi Peak. This is one of the most scenic camps on the mountain. The remainder of the day is for rest and acclimatization.

Hiking Time: 5–6 hours
Today you’ll cross the alpine desert of the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo Peaks. The landscape is vast and otherworldly as you make your way to Kibo Camp. After an early dinner, you’ll rest and prepare for your summit attempt.
Elevation: 15,500 ft (4,720 m) → 19,341 ft (5,895 m) → 12,200 ft (3,720 m)
Hiking Time: 10–14 hours
Just before midnight, your summit push begins. This is the most physically and mentally demanding part of the climb. By sunrise, you may reach the crater rim near Gilman’s Point, continuing on to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After celebrating at the summit, you’ll begin your descent to Horombo Camp for your overnight stay.
Elevation: 12,200 ft (3,720 m) → 6,100 ft (1,860 m)
Hiking Time: 5–7 hours
After breakfast, you’ll descend through the lush rainforest to Marangu Gate. Your driver will meet you and transfer you back to your hotel for a hot shower, celebration, and well-earned rest.
Enjoy breakfast and some leisure time in Moshi before your transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure flight. If you have extended your stay, Hakuna Matata! You are welcome!
