GALAPAGOS RAW BEER EXPERIENCE & CACAO ROUTE IN THE HIGHLANDS

We will start the visit in the morning with a short drive to the highlands zone. We will cross coffee crops  surrounded by fruit trees and birds such as the Darwin finches. We will observe mandarin, orange, grapefruit  trees, as well as the famous Amazonian grape tree and the breadfruit, which is also originally from the Amazon  region. On this trail we will learn about cultivation and harvesting process of the coffee bean, our guide will show us step by step this wonderful process while at our side the ground finches  peck at the fruit and seeds that fall to the ground. The sea breeze brought by the cold Humboldt current generates a special condition that allows this coffee to be  produced between 160 m and 600 m above sea level and its certified by origin. It is possible that along the paths of the property we can see giant tortoises. If we continue little further we will arrive at the sugar cane  crops, the types of cane that we will know are the white cane and the crystal cane, with them the famous panela  is produced in an artisanal way, we will be able to extract the juice of the cane using a mill and we will taste it  with a few drops of lemon juice that give it a very pleasant flavor. Then you will see a miracle of nature, Ecuadorian cocoa crops that emerge from the bowels of the lava stone,  something never seen before, but without a doubt a historical reference in the process of raising this fruit. The  cocoa is carefully cultivated by the owners of the farm. They collect, dry and process it to be able to sell it to  companies in mainland Ecuador with which they later make a delicious chocolate. Finally we will arrive at the  coffee and cocoa collection center to learn how to dry and process these products, as well as on site we will  have the opportunity to taste a freshly brewed coffee, seasonal fruit and a traditional snack from the farm, all  produced in the site and elaborated in an artisanal way, you can also try the fruit of the recently collected cocoa.  On the site you can buy bags of coffee or dry cocoa. This visit permits us to contribute to the development of local rural communities on the islands and making  them participate in a true economic reactivation..

We will continue then to the Brewery of Galapagos, where you will learn the process of raw Beer, you can even  try to produce al little bit by riding a bike to mix the malta. Enjoy different varieties of beer flavored with local and  tropical fruits.
