The Forgotten Valley

The Forgotten Valley

After a relaxed breakfast in this raw and ancient landscape, we begin our journey north, leaving behind the iconic silhouettes and heading deeper into Namibia’s quieter, lesser-travelled regions. The scenery shifts subtly as we go - vast open plains, distant mountains, and that unmistakable sense of space that only this part of the world offers.

By midday, we arrive at Forgotten Valley, a hidden gem tucked away in complete isolation. With only six self-catering units, it feels entirely your own - quiet, untouched, and deeply grounding. This will be our home for the next two nights, a place to slow down, reconnect, and fully immerse in the remoteness of Namibia’s wild beauty.

Kaokoland

Epupa Falls

Day 5: After breakfast, we set off early, heading further north on a scenic drive of around six hours. The landscapes continue to transform as we travel - from rugged, rocky terrain to more open valleys and finally the greener, palm-lined banks of the Kunene River near Epupa Falls.

Along the way, we pause in nature for a short outdoor yoga session - a chance to stretch, breathe, and take in the stillness of this remote region.

By afternoon we arrive at our lodge near Epupa Falls. Check in, unwind, and enjoy the rest of the day at your own pace, surrounded by the sounds of the river and waterfalls.

Day 6: Today is yours to enjoy. Relax at the lodge overlooking the falls, or join one of the optional activities - visit a Himba village for a cultural experience, or go rafting on the Kunene River.

Evening yoga session before dinner.

Damaraland

Day 7: After breakfast, we begin our journey back south towards Palmwag, with a scenic drive of approximately 6.5 hours through Namibia’s vast and ever-changing landscapes.

On arrival at the lodge, there is time to relax and take in the surroundings before enjoying a beautiful sunset over the rugged Damaraland terrain.

Palmwag is one of the best places in Namibia to encounter desert-adapted elephants, which are known to roam freely through the area - often passing near the camp and even the pool. With its remote setting and open surroundings, this is a truly special place to unwind and experience the quiet magic of the wild.

Day 8: This morning, you have the option to join an optional rhino tracking experience with the lodge - a unique half-day activity led by experienced guides and local trackers. On foot, you follow the tracks of critically endangered desert-adapted black rhino through the rugged terrain of Damaraland, learning about their behaviour, conservation, and the delicate ecosystem they inhabit. It’s a rare and powerful wildlife encounter, offering a deeper connection to one of Namibia’s most iconic species.

You’ll return to the lodge in time for lunch and relax for the rest of the day.

You’ll return to the lodge in time for lunch before we begin our journey back towards the coast, travelling along the dramatic Skeleton Coast.

The drive takes around six hours, with landscapes once again shifting from inland mountains and valleys to the stark beauty of desert meeting ocean. Along the way, we stop at Cape Cross, home to one of the largest Cape fur seal colonies in the world, where thousands of seals gather along the shoreline - a wild and unforgettable sight.

By early evening, we arrive back in Swakopmund. Settle in, then enjoy the fresh coastal air with our last yoga session, reflecting on the journey as the day comes to a close.

Travel Tips

Travel Tips

  1. Pack for all seasons: Namibia, Botswana and Victoria Falls's weather can vary significantly - but November is generally warm in all 3 countries. Bring layers, including a light jacket, sun protection, and sturdy footwear for outdoor activities.

  2. Stay hydrated: drink plenty of water throughout your trip. Carry a reusable water bottle with you at all times.

  3. Respect wildlife: Always maintain a safe distance, follow your guide’s instructions, and never disturb animals in their natural habitat.

  4. Bring some cash: While major cities have ATMs, smaller towns or remote areas may not, so it’s a good idea to carry some Namibian dollars in cash for smaller purchases and gratuity.

  5. Be mindful of the sun: The African sun can be intense, even on cooler days. Use high-SPF sunscreen, wear a hat, and seek shade when necessary.

  6. Respect local cultures: All 3 countries are home to diverse cultures and tribes. Be polite and considerate when visiting local communities, and ask for permission before taking photos of people.

  7. Embrace the silence: Take time to appreciate the stillness, which can be a deeply restorative experience.
