Including ten full days in Chile, starting with our early morning arrival in Santiago and ending with our red-eye flight home.
Upon arrival, we will transfer to a hotel close to the airport to drop our luggage and head out for a city tour. We then return to the hotel to check in and have a leisurely afternoon relaxing before we head up to the ski resort early the next morning.
Valle Nevado is just 90 minutes from Santiago, and is Chile’s premier high-altitude ski resort, perched between 2,860 m and 3,670 m in the Andes. It offers South America’s largest skiable domain, with 34–44 wide-open runs spanning roughly 900 hectares, from gentle beginner slopes to challenging off-piste terrain.
After our mountain escape, we head back down to Santiago for four days of urban exploration and cultural discovery, staying in the chic Vitacura district at the Hotel Bidasoa, an eco-boutique hotel, surrounded by upscale restaurants, boutique shops, and leafy streets.
Once in Santiago we will have a number of included excursions such as an all day tour to the famous Val Paraiso & Vina del Mar areas, as well as a tour of the Unduragga winery with lunch. For those of you that need more skiing, we will offer an add-on package to ski Portillo (assuming enough interest), as well as a few other add-on optional tours, to be added based on interest.
Note that this trip is being planned a year in advance and as such, some minor details may change - like the days for the various tours. All of the listed items will be included however!

Flights
The flight schedule for next year is not available but based on flights for this year, an example would be flying Delta over Atlanta, leaving at 16:55 and arriving at 7:15am the following day for an elapsed flight time of just over 13 hours. The return over the same route leaves at 20:40, getting in at 10am the following day.
This is just for informational purposes until we have a recommended schedule and our group tickets!
Time difference
While the travel time is 13-14 hours, the time zone difference is only one hour so no jet lag (if you can sleep on a plane!)
Currency
The currency is the Chilean Peso which currently is trading at 944 Pesos to 1 USD.
While credit and debit cards are commonly accepted in Chile, this is not always the case so all registrants should plan on getting some currency for tips, small purchases, etc.
More information will be provided on this closer to the trip.
Skiing in Valle Nevado – 4 days of accommodation including breakfast, dinner, and daily lift tickets (discounted if you have an Ikon pass).
Skis are available for rent right at the hotel. Prices may change but currently are running around $62/day for all equipment or $42/day for just skis. Prices increase for higher level equipment.
We will be arriving at the resort early in the day so registrants can choose to ski the day of arrival before the rooms are ready, or just relax and explore the resort. Everyone will be required to check in to receive their lift pass (including IKON) but then can leave the bags to be stored while visiting the ski rental shop and heading out to the slopes.
It is too early for the schedules and pricing to be released by the airlines, but we have a general idea by looking at the current year. For example, there is a Delta flight leaving at 5:30 pm on July 21st with a stop in Atlanta and arriving ca. 13 hours later at 7:15am on July 22..
As mentioned above, the flight schedules for next year are not yet available but in looking at the current year, most flights leave between 9 and 11pm (arriving in Austin the following day. This gives us ample time for more adventures in Santiago.
The hotel will store our luggage during the day allowing for a comfortable transfer to the airport for the trip home!
After skiing, relax with panoramic Andes views while savoring Chilean cuisine. Valle Nevado resort’s modern, ski-in/ski-out design makes everything effortless, whether you’re cruising trails, tackling freeride zones, or enjoying the snowpark.

The resort connects to its neighbors La Parva and El Colorado via lift and road, giving skiers access to over 7,000 acres of combined terrain across the three resorts — one of the largest interconnected ski areas in South America. Valle Nevado itself is known for its wide, sweeping slopes suited to intermediate cruisers, while heli-skiing operations based right at the resort open up steep, untouched Andean terrain for advanced skiers looking for something more extreme.
Beyond the skiing, the setting is dramatic — dry, high-altitude Andean sun, sweeping mountain views, and a ski-in/ski-out village feel with hotels, restaurants, and a lively après scene.
Breakfast daily included.
Established in 1885 by Francisco Undurraga Vicuña, one of the oldest wine cellars in Chile.
Located in the Santa Ana estate, in the heart of the Maipo valley, you’ll visit one of the pioneers in viticulture in Chile.
We invite to get to know how we make unique wines, visit our wine cellars with more than 130 years of experience. You’d be able to tell the enigmas, flavors, aromas, and history of our vineyards.
We will be gauging interest in the extra ski day and if there is enough interest, we will set up an add-on.
The drive to Portillo is roughly 2.5 hours, at an estimated cost of $190/per person plus lift passes (not an IKON mountain). Lift tickets and ski rentals would add another ca. $100. Pricing and schedule to be added later.
Full day tour of Viña Del Mar & Valparaiso with lunch.
Discover the colorful port city of Valparaiso and the garden city of Viña del Mar on this full-day tour of Chile’s Pacific Coast gems.
