Accommodations were comfortable, the grounds of Land of Medicine Buddha are beautiful. The food was delicious. The yoga was not challenging and not thoughtful. It felt as though Christie was doing the retreat more as a business rather than a passion, which is fine, but I was looking for more instruction on poses and yoga philosophy.
I’m so happy that you enjoyed the grounds and the meals. I’m sorry that you felt the yoga was not challenging or thoughtful. I do plan out all of my classes in advance, so there is much thought and effort put into each session. Since this was an all levels retreat, we started from the beginning and moved into deeper poses safely. We eventually worked on arm balances and inversions, which is pretty challenging for most. Hosting yoga retreats and providing a supportive community within them is my deepest passion. It wasn’t in the retreat description or on our itinerary that we’d dive into philosophy. Thank you for the suggestion, though. I may add philosophy discussions into future retreats. I was very open on the first day, encouraging guests to come to me with any concerns or issues during the course of the retreat. I wish you had come directly to speak with me about what you were feeling. I would have been honored to create a more enjoyable retreat for you.

We had a wonderful time. Food was delicious, surrounding area was perfect for a most enjoyable hike and accommodations were modest but comfortable. I truly enjoyed our yoga sessions, Christie was patient, easy to follow (as I do not practice yoga often) and her choice of yoga styles were perfect. I will definitely sign up for next years retreat! Thank you to all that involved in putting this retreat together! Maryann Walsh
I had a great time, wonderful group of people, delicious food and comfortable accomodation. Thank you for the fantastic expreience. The planning was awesome with lot of free time for strolling and other activities.
This was an incredible yoga/meditation retreat. Land of Medicine Buddha is an incredible location and Christie is a special teacher who shares her love of yoga and meditation in a way that is accessible and profound. This is my second retreat with Christie and I will definitely be looking into some of her future retreats.
I had a wonderful, relaxing, centering time at this retreat. The venue, Land of the Medicine Buddha, is a gem of serenity nestled in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Christie is an absolutely amazingly fabulous retreat host. You can tell that yoga and creating fantastic retreat experiences are her passions. Everyone was welcoming, the food was fantastic, and the yoga classes were all excellent. I truly appreciate Christie's focus on inclusivity for people at all different levels of yoga, as well as her focus on being structurally grounded in the yoga poses, ensuring a safe, injury-free practice. While I was at this retreat, I signed up for Christie's next retreat here in February and I'm so looking forward to it.
Christy Pitco doesn't disappoint! The venue is perfect; beautiful, very affordable, relaxing, excellent yoga classes on many levels so you don't feel the poses are above or below your ability - she gives many options. The combo of yoga and meditation were just what I was looking for and helped to reintroduce them in my daily routine just before a hectic next couple of months. The option to go hiking in the most amazing forest is a plus, add to that, schedule a massage or do a sauna to complete/round out your relax and refresh experience. This retreat included a magnificent sound bath which left me feeling relaxed to the core! I just loved this added experience and it was perfect given the venue and natural surroundings. The vegetarian/vegan food was the absolutely scrumptious and I was simply spoiled because I wanted the same when I returned home. I wish! This retreat as well the others I've attended with Christy have always been above the mark. She teaches her classes in a gentle and well explained/attainable manner that will want you coming back for more! Great retreat and awesome experience! I'm feeling I received the reboot I was wanting and needing! Namaste
I met great people on this trip, I felt at home and welcomed The Yoga was inspiring and exactly what I needed from the trip. I loved the location and the food was amazing.
The semi-rustic airs of Sierra Hot Springs, mixed with Christie Pitko's Yoga, made for a fabulous retreat. Plus the people who attend are just lovely human beings. Get off your hamster wheel and go to Christie Pitko's Retreat in the high Sierra mountains beside one of the largest valley's in the western United States. Populated mainly by cattle and surrounded by mountains. Take a hike or soak your bones in healing waters in the forest. Have a massage or loll with a good book in a body hugging couch beside a fire. The food is wonderful and locally sourced, cooked fresh every day. (desserts are scrummy!) And the yoga and meditation are catered for any level, making you feel super awesome afterwards. Thanks so much. I'll be back!
Had an awesome time in Sayulita with Christie and the group!
This was my first yoga retreat and the bar was set high! It truly was a magical time...the hotel was superb and very clean with great friendly service. The daily vegetarian breakfast was amazing...something for everyone. Christie added a lot of nice touches. She's a highly skilled yoga teacher and was able to teach to many levels from beginner to more advanced with clear alignment based instruction. I like the combination of vinyasa/restorative styles of yoga as well as yoga nidra and meditation. I highly recommend this retreat to everyone!
I had a great time. The hotel was wonderful- I loved the city. The yoga instruction was expert and fun!
My first and hopefully not final Yoga/Meditation retreat with Christie was awesome! Of course it didn’t disappoint that the location was at one of my most favourite places on Earth! But Christie’s teaching skills were great. She was patient and respectful of her multi leveled students in attendance, and guided us all equally, consciously, & compassionately through each movement and flow, making the classes, (however challenging), a wonderful journey of personal strength and achievement. I hope I get to experience another class guided by Christie. Maybe a visit to S.F. is in order?! Namaste
Christie is an excellent teacher. She has the ability to make it challenging for advanced students, and appropriate for beginners. Sierra hot springs is rustic but comfortable. The food was great.
I had a fantastic time! This was my first experience doing yoga, and Christie Pitko was a fantastic teacher. Having the hot springs to soak after every class was amazing. Everyone in the class was very nice and welcoming. Over all a great weekend and great retreat!
The solitude & the Beauty of the surroundings here at Land Of Medicine Buddha was beyond breathtaking. This is a must see place for anyone traveling near the SF Bay Area. It’s worth the trip. You can stop in for the day or stay the weekend. I Highly recommend.
Christie hosts wonderful yoga retreats! This is my second "Christie" retreat and it was more of everything in every way than I expected -- great location and venue, delicious food and a wide variety of meditation and yoga practices rounded out the great weekend. I plan to attend future retreats with Christie and you should, too!
What an amazing weekend! First, Christie was super as both a yoga instructor and meditation guide. We we comfortable in our rooms, the food was delicious and healthy and the surrounding area was a perfect setting to decompress from the rat race. Highly recommended for those curious (or serious) about meditation and yoga.
The yoga/meditation combination was fantastic for this retreat. I loved Christie's gentle guidance in leading the group through the yoga poses regardless of their level making it easier to accomplish even the difficult poses with confidence. The venue was the best and most perfect I've ever been for a yoga retreat and in a addition the rooming quarters roomy and comfy. The vegetarian meals were a plus and I when I returned home I continued to make veggie meals at home even though I am not a total vegetarian - so healthy! I would definitely return to this venue for another one of Christie's yoga retreats. I left the retreat feeling restored, energized and reflective of my practice.
Christie hosted the most beautiful retreat. The location, the amenities & the food were all beyond my expectations but the true gift was having Christie thoughtfully guide us through yoga (therapeutic, vinyasa, & yoga nidra) & meditation. Her teaching style was comforting, welcoming & accessible to all levels. She was careful to make sure she spent time having genuine conversations will all attendees. I look forward to retreating with her again!
This trip was amazing. The Land of Medicine Buddha retreat center is beautiful. The forest, temple and trails far exceeded anything I could have imagined. The food was simple and delicious. The staff was so gracious and accommodating to all our needs. Christie is an amazing host and teacher. I would recommend this trip to anyone looking for a retreat in the Santa Cruz area. Thank you Christie for hosting this retreat. I met some amazing people that I will keep in contact with until my next retreat with you. I look forward to many more. Thank you and Namaste, Cindy
Thank you so much to Christie Pitko for creating such a wonderful retreat experience. Her skills as a teacher are above and beyond precise, welcoming and allow so much space as a student to be exactly where you are at yet feel challenged at the same time. The hotel was magical and the food was abundant and incredibly delicious! I left feeling regenerated and reinspired in my practice and look forward to finding more of her classes!
Such a great trip. Really cool lodge, beautiful scenery. The instructor, Christie Pitko, was fantastic. And the other members of the group were warm and personable!
It was absolutely wonderful. Will definitely book again for next year. I really enjoyed the classes, the company and especially the food. Would suggest mentioning when meeting with attendees the Friday meet/greet that they need to squeeze into the space, so when putting down their mats for the first time, to be aware of it. Such a minor critique, but it being my first yoga retreat, I ended up wedged up on the wall and wasn't 100% sure of protocol. Loved every minute and wished it was 1 day longer, to be honest! See you next year!
I had an amazing time With Christie! The location was perfect to get away and relax. My meditation and yoga practice benefited from her experience and energy. As a yoga instructor, I am always looking to gain different perspective and insights. She opened my eyes to help me see deeper into my practice.
What an awesome location at the beautiful green rolling hills at IONS in Petaluma, and the yoga and meditation retreat was a deeply, enriching experience filled with many insights and healing on many levels. I highly recommend attending, and Christie was a fabulous facilitator. I hope to attend more in the future!
Great experience overall. Lovely people, amazing food and mindfulness. I came back from the retreat rested. Thank you for arranging the trip!
Christie's yoga classes, meditation and mala making was awesome! This venue was the perfect space for the workshop and the grounds were absolutely spectacular. I'm so glad that Christie chose this venue to host her yoga workshop. It was fairly easy to find the center and was simply relaxing. Also the food was so delicious and healthy! The rooms were comfy and clean. I'd definitely go back to the retreat center for a yoga workshop with Christie. She is an awesome yoga instructor, great classes, gentle and mindful of the type of asanas the class should engage in especially after meals. The inclusion of meditation was a bonus and helped re-boost my daily practice.
Fun get away if you're local.
After five days of revitalizing yoga, delicious food, beautiful accommodations and unforgettable excursions, I left Christi’s retreat feeling healthy and rejuvenated. She was a wonderful host and organized a perfect balance of restoration and activity. I highly recommend one of Christi’s retreats to any vacationer who appreciates nature, health and good company. Thanks, Christi!
This was a wonderfully relaxing and rejuvenating vacation. Had a wonderful time with everyone that joined the trip - some of THE nicest people I've met in my travels. Really made the experience enjoyable. Christie's morning yoga got us going for our day and evening yoga was relaxing and the perfect way to wind down from the day. The reiki session I had with Christie was relaxing and peaceful. The hotel was a lovely quaint, property by the ocean with good food and a relaxing atmosphere. Exactly what I'd hoped my experience on this retreat would be and I would absolutely recommend going on a retreat with Christie.
The yoga retreat was fantastic! I enjoyed the people, the atmosphere, the food and the yoga!!
I had the most wonderful time on this yoga adventure. I honestly loved everything about it! The yoga teacher, Christie, lead us through two daily classes that were thoughtful and engaging, full of flow and fun. The hotel (The Rip Jack Inn) was very nice, it felt very personal and familiar, like staying at a friend's estate on the beach. On that note, the hotel was a 2 minute walk from an incredible beach... just beautiful. The restaurant was accommodating and the food was very good. Overall, the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The group of yoga participants were all friendly and we had a great time together. I only wish it was longer. I would absolutely do a retreat with Christie again, anytime!
The hot springs were a great feature, but my favorite part of the retreat was the reiki session. Christie made everyone feel comfortable by describing what reiki is and how she learned about it. The yoga sessions were fantastic -- just the right balance of challenge and relaxation. Meeting the other retreaters was fun as well!
