A couple of weeks ago, we wrote a post on our top 5 Spotify road trip playlists and we loved sharing our musical suggestions with you so much that we’re continuing this trend with another post dedicated to music! This week’s post is all about songs that inspire travel and lucky for you, we have seven songs that will motivate you to travel the world and the seven seas.
1. Hotel California – Eagles
With its incredible guitar solo and somewhat surreal lyrics, Hotel California is an oldie, but a goodie. We recommend that you listen to it when you want to escape and reminisce about the beautiful state of California.
2. New York, New York – Frank Sinatra
A classic, New York, New York expresses a timeless love of the vibrant city. The theme song for anyone who decides to travel to the Big Apple, this song is great if you’re fascinated by life in the big city and if you’re looking to live in a colorful and storied place.
3. Champs Elysées – Joe Dassin
Time for some international flavor! When we think of France, we tend to think of Champs Elysées. There’s something magical about the song that professes a love for Paris and it makes us want to jump on a plane to visit the City of Light.
4. Paper Planes – M.I.A.
Speaking of planes, Paper Planes by M.I.A. is a contemporary song with heavy, contemplative lyrics and an addictive beat. While its lyrics are controversial and reflect a darker tone than most of the songs on our list, we think it offers some much needed perspective and diversity!
5. On the Road Again – Willie Nelson
For anyone who has a love of the open road, this one is probably your theme song. Another classic, On the Road Again focuses on the relationships and experiences that we have when we travel. It’s the type of upbeat ditty that you blast when you’re on a road trip with your family or friends.
6. Holiday – Madonna
We agree with Madonna on this one. Sometimes, we just need a holiday and what better way to start one than to blast this song? Holiday is an addictive song that will inspire you to get up on your feet and move, whether that’s to the beat of the song or to a new and different place.
7. Budapest – George Ezra
A more recent addition, Budapest is quite a catchy song and you’ve probably heard it on the radio. (We know we have!) While the lyrics aren’t necessary about the city of Budapest, it does still inspire us to travel. In fact, if you enjoyed this song, we recommend that you take a look at Ezra’s other songs on his Wanted on Voyage album, which was inspired by his travels around Europe.
