A day trip to Lake Manyara National Park is an exciting chance to get a feel for the real Africa. Lake Manyara is an unspoiled paradise of groundwater lakes fed by underground springs and teeming with wildlife.
One of Africa's premier birding destinations, it's also a fantastic place to see Africa's most iconic animals from massive elephants and cape buffalo to the famous tree-climbing lions who call the park home.
Day Trip Lake Manyara National Park
In early morning, tourist(s) will be collected from hotel in Arusha and driven to Lake Manyara National Park. Expect spectacular countryside views. The park encompasses the northwest part of the alkaline Lake Manyara which itself rests in the Great Rift Valley. The park is perhaps best known for its attractive flamingos, pelicans and cormorants but it is also the home for a few hundred other species of attractive birds; it is therefore a paradise for ornithologists. Next to a great variety of birds, the “Big Game” can also be found and seen.
With a bit of luck you might see elephants in the wooded regions and with even more fortune the magnificent tree-climbing lions in the grand Lake Manyara National Park. Indeed, it was thought for a long time that the Lake Manyara National Park is the only place where lions can be found with this atypical behaviour of climbing trees. Baboons and vervet monkeys are also commonly found amongst the forested areas and in the more open spaces, tall attractive giraffes nibble at the fresh leaves while the various types of antelopes common to the region browse for tasty grass shoots. After a picnic lunch, there will be more time for further game and wildlife watching before it is time to return to Arusha. Come and experience the vibrant game and nature of Lake Manyara National Park.
