After checking in to your centrally located hotel, take advantage of your free time to explore the city's well-known sites such as Nordnes peninsula, medieval Håkon’s Hall, the Renaissance-era Rosenkrantz Tower, or the 12th-century St Mary’s Church, known as Mariakirken in Norwegian. As you make your way through this picturesque town on your Coastal Express route, you'll be captivated by the stunning views of the southern coast of the Romsdal Peninsula. With a longer stop this time around, you'll have all the time you need to explore and indulge in the town's numerous attractions. 


We highly recommend taking advantage of the optional activities organized by your Coastal Experience Team, including a visit to the Atlantic Road, an iconic landmark that has been featured in numerous Hollywood movies. With its breathtaking views and awe-inspiring architecture, the Atlantic Road is sure to leave a lasting impression on you. 

 

So come and discover the charm of Molde on your next Coastal Express route. With its stunning natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and endless opportunities for adventure and relaxation, Molde is sure to be a highlight of your Norwegian journey.

AN ANCIENT FISHING TOWN

Journey to Rørvik, a charming port town surrounded by the breathtaking Vikna archipelago consisting of around 6,000 islands, islets, and skerries. As we dock at Inner-Vikna, the largest island in the chain, you'll be transported back in time to ancient history, with burial mounds dating back to prehistoric times. 

The town and its surrounding areas boast a rich maritime legacy, which is well-documented across Rørvik’s many museums, including The Norwegian Coastal Museum. 

Spend a day exploring the fascinating history and culture of this unique destination, and take in the stunning natural beauty of the surrounding islands. Come and experience the magic of Rørvik for yourself!


The archipelago is known for its rich export of cod, and the town celebrates it every year with the Cod Festival in March. This is the perfect opportunity to indulge in some fresh cod cakes made from the locally caught fish. The festival offers a range of activities, from cooking competitions to cultural events, making it a delightful experience for everyone. VILLAGE AND FJORD NATURE

Journey to the charming village of Lødingen on Hinnøya Island, where our ships used to visit on one of our earlier coastal routes. 


As we dock at midday, you will be greeted by a serene atmosphere and traditional red fishing huts, or rorbuer, that line the shore. Take a stroll through the streets near the port and witness the tranquil life of village locals. 

With a population of under 2,000, Lødingen is an idyllic base for exploring Norway's largest island south of Svalbard. Join us as we embark on a journey of discovery and soak in the beauty of this enchanting village.


Immerse yourself in the breathtaking fjords and majestic mountains that are sure to leave you in awe. One of the highlights of the trip is visiting Gullesfjord, which is nestled on the north side of Hinnøya, and is surrounded by pristine mountain ranges. 

This area is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, with a range of activities available including camping, fishing for cod in the fjord during winter, and hiking through the beautiful landscape.

THE CITY OF NORTHERN LIGHTS

Welcome to Alta, one of Norway's most picturesque coastal towns with a population of over 10,000 people. The town is renowned for its famous Alta River, home to some of Norway's largest salmon. With some weighing up to 53 pounds, it's no surprise that the town's local restaurants offer delicious grilled salmon dishes. 


But that's not all Alta has to offer. Located at 70 degrees north, the town is situated far above the Arctic Circle, providing excellent visibility for the Northern Lights. With clear skies and the right conditions, you can capture amazing shots of the lights dancing above you.

Get ready to be captivated by the enchanting beauty of Honningsvåg, the northernmost city on the mainland. With its distinctive landscape, Honningsvåg boasts of breathtaking winter scenery with snow-covered mountains and crystal-clear fjords. 

Embrace the winter wonderland by indulging in a host of activities like skiing, snowmobiling, and husky sledding. Take a stroll through the charming streets of Honningsvåg and experience the warmth of the locals. Don't miss this chance to witness the magic of winter in Honningsvåg!


As we journey through the snow, you'll get to experience the thrill of riding a snowmobile to one of the northernmost points of mainland Europe. Once we reach our destination, we'll stand at the edge of Norway and gaze out over the stunning Barents Sea, all while marveling at the polar night sky. And if that's not enough, we'll also witness the incredible Northern Lights as they dance across the sky above us. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that you won't want to miss!

THE CAPITAL OF THE ARCTIC

Today, you’ll arrive at the Arctic Capital itself, sitting around 217 miles north of the Arctic Circle. You’ll bid farewell to MS Trollfjord, and a transfer will take you to your hotel in the center of Tromsø, where you’ll spend the final night of your journey.


You can spend the rest of the day at your leisure, strolling around a historic Arctic city that is rich in explorer history. On the waterfront you’ll find Polaria, the world’s northernmost aquarium, while on the other side of the fjord from the harbor is the iconic Arctic Cathedral, with its beautiful stained-glass mosaic.


Our city center boasts a plethora of shops, restaurants, and cafes to suit every taste and craving. Whether you're in the mood for a refreshing beer at the iconic Mack Brewery or a cozy night out at the beloved Ølhallen pub, we've got you covered. Our trendy cafes are a must-visit, where skilled baristas create innovative coffee art and serve up mouth-watering cinnamon buns.
