Today you will explore Malawi's second city and commercial capital. Visit historic sites, and new areas where history is in the making. After visiting the business district, you will have lunch with some young entrepreneurs. They are farmers, dairy processors, robotics whizzes, lawyers and more. In the afternoon, you will visit the business premises of two of the entrepreneurs to see the day in the life of people trying to make a difference. 

Today is all about tea! Tea is a big deal in Malawi, with most people enjoying a really *strong* cup in the morning. After breakfast, you will transfer to Thyolo district which is renowned for it's sprawling tea estates.  Spend the morning hiking around a fair trade estate, tasting a range of Malawian teas before a light, fresh lunch. In the afternoon, explore Thyolo town proper, visiting a paper making plant before checking in to your exclusive lodge retreat.

There's lots been said about the mountain. On a clear day, you can see the Indian Ocean from the highest peaks. Did the majestic views really inspire J.R.R. Tolkien to create Middle Earth? How far are you willing to push yourself?

After breakfast you will transfer to Mulanje and hike to Chambe Hut. You will be there in time for lunch (for both moderate and enthusiastic hikers). After lunch, explore the plains or settle in with a good book. Spend the night under the stars.

After your descent from the mountain, stop at a locally owned cafe for your lunch. Try out some local cuisine and fill up on hearty stews. In the afternoon, transfer to Zomba to your three star hotel atop Zomba Mountain. 

Zomba was Malawi's first capital, and it has many sites of historic interest. In the morning, transfer to a local community based organisation to find out how women are gaining financial freedom through village banking. Then, go on a treasure hunt in the market, before having lunch with a family in the village. 

In the afternoon, return to the mountain for an optional hike, or horse riding in the nearby stables. 

Safari time! After breakfast, transfer to Liwonde National Park for two days of game drives and boat safaris. How many of the big five can you spot?

Today you will transfer to Lake Malawi to stay in a luxury beachfront resort. You will meet some locals working on environmental conservation before returning to your hotel to simply relax on a sunset cruise on the Lake of Stars.

After breakfast, transfer to Mua Mission, an enterprise dedicated to the preservation and development of Malawian cultural heritage. From traditional dances to intricate carvings, find out how Malawians express themselves. After lunch, return to Blantyre for your final night before departure.
