Our slogan: Passion for travel; is coming from a group of people who believe in the power of traveling and felt in love every day of this industry, with the only goal to keep alive the spirit of discovering and exploring the beauty of this planet and with the responsibility to share with travelers the magic of this beautiful country full of life and unique experiences.

Jorge suggested that he pick me up (in Old Town) at 7:30 AM so we could miss the traffic. Leaving early, we were the first to the trailhead and didn't see anyone on the hike until we got to the lake trail. I had wanted to go up to the Refugio, but with the recent eruptions, that was closed. This turned out to be great as we hiked an alternative trail, opposite, where we could witness the eruptions, safely. The hike and views were beautiful; we went up to 15,000 ft. Jorge is a wonderful guide. He explained various plants and their medicinal and historical uses, was patient with my slow pace and let me lead the way. He is warm and engaging and we talked about many things as we climbed up the trail. The provided lunch was good; nice to have a full meal after our walk. I highly recommend Jorge and the option of the private tour.

My guide, Paul, after 18 years at his job is still so animated and excited to share his expertise in this “paradise for geologists”. His love of plants and their uses, and history of the local people and their traditional dress, among many other Ecuadorian insights made the three hour drive from Quito go quickly. He welcomed my questions and we stopped often so that I could take photos. The trail to the beautiful lake was wide and easy enough; just a little slippery in places. Walking back up I needed to force myself to go slowly because of the altitude, and Paul offered to get me a burro, but since the distance wasn’t far I kept walking. Quito is a delightful city, but it is valuable to get out of the city and see (and understand) a bit of the Andes. Paul was patient and supportive, very enthusiastic and supportive; I highly recommend Paul and the day trip to Quilotoa Lake.

Imbabura is a great hike with a lot of elevation gain, about 4,000 feet in three miles. It was a fantastic time with Jorge and David, both whom have guided me on previous adventures. I definitely recommend this trip for those wanting a challenge. We made it roundtrip in just under 5 hours.

We could not make it to Illinizas due to a protest that blocked the Panamaericana most of the day. Instead, we went to Pasachoa, which was another great hike. Despite the elevation gain, it is a rather easy hike that took about 5 hours round trip. Joaquin and David were great guides.

This was a great trip that helped me conquer my debilitating fear of heights. Jorge helped me up the mountain, which is quite exposed at certain points. I highly recommend this for people wanting to acclimatize prior to climbing one of the bigger volcanoes in Ecuador.
