The tasting consists of pure bars and others that contain Ecuadorian flavors, delighting each bite, while we go through the history of cocoa in Ecuador.

The trip begins in Quito, Ecuador, laying the groundwork for understanding the historical relationship between the capital city and its rural communities. 

The historic center of Quito is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and offers a wide range of interesting buildings and places that reflect the Ecuadorian people, environment and beliefs. We will make stops and tours in the domes of the main churches, such as the golden church of the Company, the Plaza de San Francisco. 

Also the Panecillo, a hill where rests an imposing statue of the Virgin of Quito that contemplates an impressive view of the city.

We will begin our morning with a visit to Casa Agave, a local museum working to recover ancestral knowledge of the Agave Andino, a plant from the cactus family that has been used since ancient times. 

Later that day, we will straddle the Equator with a foot in each hemisphere at the iconic "Mitad del Mundo", a striking monument marking the latitude 0°0’0″, the center of the world. From the top of the monument, visitors can enjoy 360-degree views of the surrounding San Antonio valley.

We will enjoy a journey through one of the deepest and most humid forests in Ecuador, we will make a stop at a life shelter for birds, here we will feed hummingbirds in our hands and we will observe countless beautiful and colorful tanagers, toucans and toucanets . 

At the end we will arrive at a beautiful river of the same name of the reserve in which we will refresh ourselves in its waters.

Cultural exchange with people who rescue the Yumbo culture

Cabañas Majahua 

Mindo has several rivers running through the cloud forest, with semi rapids waters that allow tourists to embark on a buoy and be dragged for miles down the river, while enjoying an amazing adventure. Tubing is one of those adventure sports in which participants can enjoy intense emotions, adrenaline, play water games and much more.

We will visit the rural community of Zuleta and learn about the tradition of Pachamanka, a delicious dish of Andean cuisine.  Its name comes from two Quichua words: pacha (land) and manka (pot).  The dish is prepared by digging a hole in the ground, placing the food inside the hold, and then surrounding   the food with hot stones that help to cook the unique and tasty stew.

We will visit Taller  Artesanal Peguche Wasi where indigenous artisans will demonstrate their craft using the Andean loom. A wide variety of handmade weavings and artisan products will be available for purchase. This visit supports an ancient cultural tradition that is in danger of being lost as younger generations look to other sources of income. 

In the afternoon we will celebrate The Inti Raymi (Quechua for "Inti festival") is a traditional religious ceremony of the Inca Empire in honor of the god Inti (Quechua for "sun"), the most venerated deity in Inca religion. It was the celebration of the winter solstice – the shortest day of the year in terms of the time between sunrise and sunset – and the Inca New Year, when the hours of light would begin to lengthen again. In territories south of the equator, the Gregorian months of June and July are winter months. It is held on June 

Cuicocha Lake It is considered an ecological and mythological lagoon and its main characteristic is that in its center there are two islets called: Teodoro Wolf and José María Yerovi, product of small eruptions that followed the main eruption and are separated by the «canal del dream”, in this place we will make a walk of about 2 hours around the crater. 

Then we will take an old road that will take us to the town of Cotacachi, we will visit different communities observing and learning about their daily activities. In Cotacachi we will have time to visit the city and the leather goods stores. We will have our lunch in a restaurant in the city or community

Relaxing day in Papallacta: They are medicinal waters, of colorless volcanic origin with temperatures between 35 and 64°C. The hot springs are one of the biggest attractions in this part of the province, their waters are credited with relieving various aliments such as arthritis. It is a wonderful natural space an very renowned for its thermal waters.
