Our curriculum includes:

  • Basic overview of yoga for kids, seniors, pre/post natal, and for PTSD
  • Chair yoga for seniors, office workers, and travelers
  • Instructing a multi-level class
  • The benefits and hidden effects of asanas
  • Common yoga injuries and prevention
  • Modifications of asanas to various levels and injuries
  • Creative flow: vinyasa sequencing
  • Yin poses and sequencing
  • Yoga history and philosophy (yoga scriptures, Yamas and Niyamas)
  • Sanskrit/English names of postures
  • The business of yoga and ethics
  • Ongoing follow-up program for the graduates

DAILY SCHEDULE OVERVIEW

  • 06:00-08:00 Practice
  • 08:00-09:00 Breakfast
  • 09:00-13:00 Lecture
  • 13:00-14:00 Lunch and break

  • 16:00-18:00 Practice
  • 18:00-19:00 Dinner

Most days will be from 6 am-6 pm but may change due to weather and possible other circumstances.

The training will cover yoga for all types of bodies and needs, but the main styles focused on are traditional Hatha yoga, Iyengar, Vinyasa flow, and Yin yoga.


Requirements:

  • One to two years of personal yoga practice
  • Be open-minded: arrive with a willing heart and desire to move towards a yogic lifestyle and to have the most rewarding experience

At the end of the course, students that fulfill all the requirements will receive a 200-hour certification of Yoga Training recognized internationally by the Yoga Alliance.

Cynthia Maher is a registered yoga teacher E-RYT 500 and owns her EnergiZen Yoga school (RYS 200) with the Yoga Alliance. She has been on the yogic path since 2000 and specializes in yoga therapy for veterans with PTSD and Chronic pain. Each of her class energy is devoted to creating space for students to access their own innate presence through postures, flow, breath and awareness. Drawing from her experience in Hatha, Yin, Vinyasa, and meditation. Her personal studies have spanned all styles of yoga with some of the world’s finest teachers. Founder of EnergiZen, Cynthia conducts teacher trainings in Costa Rica through her yoga school and organizes yoga retreats and workshops worldwide. Yoga is Cynthia's passion and she believes it’s crucial to maintain balance in all aspects of life.
