This 14 day/13 night Rwanda safari and Mount Kilimanjaro trek is among the most rewarding excursions in East Africa. Rwanda will be your host destination for the first part of your trip. Here you will stay in beautiful mountain lodges, taste the most exquisite coffee imaginable and experience the most exhilarating wildlife adventures imaginable. You will have the option to experience Gorilla tracking in Volcanoes National Park, Chimpanzee tracking in Ruhengeri Forest Park, and countless wildlife viewing in between. The Mountain Gorillas of Rwanda are an endangered and highly protected species and are not found anywhere else in the world. To see these remarkable creatures living in their natural habitat is one of the most spectacular and rare wild life experiences available to mankind. Please note: Gorilla and/or Chimpanzee tracking permits are not included in the base fee of this package. If you are interested in this elite experience, please remember to click on permit(s) in the add-on options when booking your trip. We do recommend booking your permit as soon as possible as tours are limited to just six people at a time.
On Day 5 of your excursion, you will travel to Tanzania for your Mount Kilimanjaro trek to the “Roof of Africa". Mount Kilimanjaro is the tallest mountain in Africa and also the highest free-standing mountain in the world. It has many trails, however Lemosho Route is our preferred route. It is regarded as one of the most beautiful routes on Kilimanjaro with spectacular scenery and an abundance of wildlife. We begin from the west, trekking in the fertile rain forest until we reach the wildflowers of the Heath Ecosystem. We then cross the stunning Shira Plateau before traversing the mountain along the southern circuit. Each of the 7 nights on Mount Kilimanjaro will be spent in our high quality four season expedition tents. The Good Earth Expedition team is excited to guide you up Mount Kilimanjaro to make sure you safely experience the time of your life!
Gorilla and Chimpanzee Tracking Permits in Rwanda 2021:
The cost for a Gorilla or Chimpanzee tracking permit each is USD $1500 per person. Both species are endangered and highly protected by the local governments. Only a limited number of tour groups are allowed per day to ensure that the animals are not negatively impacted by tourists. 10% of permit revenue go towards local communities, schools, health centers, and roads. There is also a compensation fund for local farmers in case of gorilla damage to their crops. This ensures peaceful co-existence between farmers and wildlife.
