Overall Theme:
You'll get a feel for how the Inuit way of life is all about adapting deeply to the Arctic environment and having a close bond with nature. Along the way, you’ll experience the breathtaking beauty and raw power of the Arctic wilderness. The best part? You’ll have the opportunity to learn directly from local people through stories, active experiences, and hands-on activities. Plus, there’s plenty of time to connect and share with fellow students.
Morning:
Set off on an exciting 45-minute boat ride through Nuuk’s stunning fjords. Keep your eyes peeled for seals or whales, they might just make a surprise appearance, though nature likes to keep us guessing!
When you arrive at Ravens Nest camp, get comfortable and hear from the guides about what’s ahead and the camp vibe.
Afternoon:
Take a lovely hike to a crystal clear pool just southeast of camp. As you wander, your local guides will chat about how the Inuit culture fits so well with the Arctic environment, sharing stories about sustainable living, hunting, and foraging. Along the way, you’ll pick up tips on spotting local herbs and berries and get insights about the region’s wildlife.
Back at camp, you can try fishing from the shore, maybe even help catch dinner! Alongside, there can be conversations about how fishing and hunting still plays an important role in the community.
Or, if you prefer, take a refreshing polar plunge in the Arctic sea, followed by relaxing in the cozy sauna tent.
Evening:
Gather around to prepare a traditional Greenlandic meal over a bonfire or camp stove as the sun sets. End the evening sharing reflections and warmth together by the fire.
Morning:
Start with a hearty breakfast and a friendly chat about safety in the Arctic wilderness.
Morning to Afternoon:
Try stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) for around 30 minutes in Itisoq Bay or take a walk along the coastline.
hike towards a view point. Along the way, hear from your guides about reading nature’s signs, staying safe on outdoor adventures, and respecting the environment. You’ll take in the rugged landscape and spectacular views that remind you just how powerful nature is.
Late Afternoon:
Head back to Nuuk carrying stories, new experiences, and a fresh appreciation for the connection between nature and culture in Greenland. There’ll be time to share your thoughts and memories from the trip.
