How to Get to Cusco, Peru

Book your international flight to Lima, Peru.  If your flight arrives Lima in the evening, the most convenient place for an overnight is a 3 minute walk to the Wyndham Hotel at Lima airport. The next morning you walk back to the terminal and fly to Cusco. We recommend that you use Latam Airlines. 

If your international flight arrives in Lima in the morning, you can fly later the same day to Cusco. We suggest you allow at least a 3 hour layover in Lima airport

When to Book Your Flights

Do not book any flights until we reply to your request and have confirmed that hiking permits and entry tickets to Machu Picchu are available.

Hotels

All the hotels we reserve have private bathrooms, fresh linens, hot showers, breakfast and free wifi. Hotels store excess luggage during the 2-day trip. 

For Active Travelers All Ages

It's not necessary to be super fit, but this trip is best for people who enjoy active vacations and nature-based activities.  There's no age limit. Each hiker should be able to carry a small/medium size backpack large enough to hold everything they need for the hike + 1 overnight in a hotel.  If you have any questions about the 1-Day Inca Trail hike, don't hesitate to contact our US office in VA to discuss.. 757-714-6649.

The day before you begin your hike is the perfect time to explore the Sacred Valley. It's literally on the way to your hike.

8:30AM Pickup from your hotel in Cusco and begin driving to the village of Chinchero where qechua women demonstrate traditional Inca weaving. Continue by car to Maras terraced salt ponds then drive to Moray geologic sinkholes, one of the most unusual masterpieces believed to be constructed by the Inca. Finally arrive at your hotel in the village of Ollantaytambo for the evening. 

 5am. Adios tour guide will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco and drive 1.5 h to the station where you board the train. Ride 1 hour to KM 104 where you get off into the cloud forest to begin 8m hike to the upper terraces of Machu Picchu. Exit the park and take shuttle bus to the village where you walk to your hotel for the night.

Hotel: 3* Aguas Calientes with private bath and breakfast

Includes: Tour guide, train tickets, bus ticket, hiking permit, box lunch, 1N in 3* hotel

Not included: dinner, drinking water (box lunch includes 1 sport drink and 1 small bottled water please bring additional water as there are no water stops on the hike), tips, travel insurance.

 6-7AM Adios tour guide will meet you at your hotel and ride the bus to the main entry. Begin 2-3h guided tour of circuit 3, then exit and return by bus to the village where you have time for lunch (at your expense) before boarding the train to Ollantaytambo. Adios driver will be waiting to pick you up and stop for your excess luggage, then continue to your hotel in Cusco, arriving by 6-7pm. (it's not recommended to book flights or anything significant due to the risk of delay getting back to Cusco)
