Then, we will board the train to kilometer 104 (trailhead). Our trek today will take us along the most wonderful stretch of the 4-day Classic Inca Trail. We will visit beautiful Inca sites, see a variety of flora and fauna, and enjoy breathtaking panoramas of the Andes. Our trek begins in the Sacred Valley and ascends along a cobblestone Inca path to the archaeological site of Wiñay Wayna. After visiting Wiñay Wayna, we will have a picnic with an incredible view of the mountain. After enjoying our lunch, we will walk through the lush green cloud forest that covers the mountain, observing a wide variety of plants, flowers, orchids, and birds along the way.
After a full day of hiking, we’ll arrive at the Sun Gate, where you’ll have your first view of Machu Picchu spread out over the mountain ridge. From there, we’ll hike for approximately 45 more minutes until we reach Machu Picchu. We’ll explore the upper section of the site following Circuit 1, where you can take the famous postcard photo of Machu Picchu. We’ll then take a bus to Aguas Calientes, arriving at approximately 5:00 p.m. Once there, your guide will help you check into your hotel. You’ll have free time before dinner, during which you can visit the hot springs for a relaxing soak. After dinner, you’ll return to your hotel for the night.
