Itinerary of the 2-Day tour to Machu Picchu

Day 1: Cusco - Aguas Calientes

We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 7:00 am and transfer you to the San Pedro train station in Cusco to board the train to Aguas Calientes; the train ride takes 4:5 hours from the heights of Cusco to the cloud forest where Machu Picchu is located.

On the trip, you will enjoy incredible views of the city of Cusco, Pampas de Anta, the Pomatales Canyon, and travel along the Urubamba River to Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes around 12:20 pm, you will check into your hotel and enjoy a free afternoon in the citadel, where you can explore the town or visit the hot springs.

Day 2: Machu Picchu - Cusco

After breakfast at your hotel, you will meet your guide to board the first buses to Machu Picchu and enter the citadel of Machu Picchu. You will have a 3-4 hour guided tour by your professional guide who will show you the best of this legendary lost city surrounded by magnificent mountains.

After the tour, you will take the bus back to Aguas Calientes to have lunch, explore the city, go shopping. Later in the afternoon, board the Vistadome Panoramic trains to Ollantaytambo for 1.5 hours and then a private van to Cusco. The estimated arrival time is at 7.30 - 8: pm back to your hotel in Cusco.

Machu Picchu Mountain - The hike takes 3 hours round trip after the guided tour. The shift is from 9:am to 10:am. The cost is 75$ per person.

Our tour guide was MARITZA (extremely amazing human being) I had the fear that maybe we would be asking for to many request or to many questions, but her customer service was always a priority. We had an incredible time with TreXperience! Maritza is everything you want in a guide - really knowledgeable, motivating, and great fun! The trek itself was superb with some fantastic scenery and a good sense of challenge (without ever getting too hard). Plus the catering was phenomenal! Our chefs Francisco and Julio went above and beyond, whether they were bringing us hot chocolate and popcorn after a long day or managing to produce outstanding meals seemingly out of thin air! This was one of the most amazing experiences of my life! It was incredibly hard but incredibly beautiful and so worth it! Our guide Jose Luis (Pepe) was amazing - from his knowledge on the Andes and Incan history, to his friendliness, attentiveness and the care he took of us through the 4 days - 5 stars! Trexperience did a great job with the camping equipment provided (the sleeping bags and tents kept me warm through the night at the highest altitudes when it got below freezing, and the campsites were always set up an ready for us at the end of each day) and the chefs did an amazing job for every meal they provided - not only in the quality and taste of the food, but they even put effort into presentation! All around great tour, I highly recommend it!
