Itinerary

Day 1
Arrival in Reyjavik

Reykjavik & Akureyri

All flights into Reykjavik arrive between 5 & 9am. After meeting outside of security, we will load up the rental car and head to the Blue Lagoon for a couple hours of relaxation in their healing, warm waters. After that, we drive into Reykjavik for an introduction of nordic fare.

Depending on time, you will have a couple hours in Reykjavik to explore and shop before our 45 minute flight to the city of Akureyri. Akureyri is Iceland's second largest city, after Reykjavík. 'City' may be too generous a term as its inhabitants' number at only 20,000, closer to that of a town elsewhere in the world. Akureyri is often branded as the 'Capital of the North', while Reykjavík is branded the 'Capital of the South', and they are separated by an approximate 5-hour drive.

The Akureyri airport is only a 7 minute drive from downtown, so after hotel check-in, everyone has the rest of the day to relax, eat, explore or turn in early.

Possible Hotel: Icelandair Hotel Akureyri

Need: Bathing suit, waterproof cover for phone

Time in Car: 1 hour

Meals: lunch, dinner
