About this trip

Explore Antarctica with Girls LOVE Travel and Oceanwide Expeditions!!

Excited to be heading back to Antarctica in 2021 with Oceanwide Expeditions!  They supplied us with 10% off their lowest baseline prices - but there are LIMITED spots available!

Due to the nature of the current times with the pandemic, Ocean Wide travel suggests not buying flights for a few more months in case the departure port changes.

** If you can not make these dates work, reach out to Oceanwide Expeditions and let them know you heard about them from Girls LOVE Travel and they will make sure you get the absolute best price possible!!! **

Please Note

The staff on board the ship have final say about the itinerary.  Girls LOVE Travel is not responsible for changes or alterations made by the staff as a result of things such as but not limited to: weather, ice, wildlife, and/or safety of the passengers on board.  All activities are complimentary and will be done in addition to the voyage when they are safely available.

Verbiage direct from Oceanwide Expeditions:
During this voyage, Oceanwide Expeditions will attempt landings that have rarely if ever been offered by Oceanwide Expeditions – or any other Antarctic cruise operator.  Flexibility is key during these thrilling expeditions. Since information about most of the landing sites is limited or unknown, this target itinerary can only mention scheduled landings and general information. All itineraries are for guidance only. Programs may vary depending on local ice, weather, and wildlife conditions. The on-board expedition leader will determine the final schedule and itinerary. Flexibility is paramount for expedition cruises.

Camping

Camp out overnight under the Antarctic skies

Looking to take your Antarctic adventure further? Join us for a night of camping out under the Antarctic night sky. We bring the camping gear, you bring your sense of adventure. Wake up the next morning to enjoy some of the cleanest air in the world, go home with a new fantastic memory under your belt.

*Add-on activity weather permitting.  This will ONLY be available and allowed if the staff onboard the ship find that it is safe to add this to the trip.

Kayaking

Paddle your way through the Polar waters.

An optional activity, kayaking is a fantastic way to explore the shorelines of the Polar Regions. You’ll set out from your mother ship in the calm waters of a secluded bay, exploring the coastline at your own pace. Paddling your way through the quiet of the scenery you’ll be able to fully enjoy the serene beauty of the Arctic or Antarctic landscapes that surround you.

*Add-on activity weather permitting.  This will ONLY be available and allowed if the staff onboard the ship find that it is safe to add this to the trip.

** Arriving / Departing Ushuaia **

- Arrivals:
You MUST be in Ushuaia no later than December 14th for December 15th departure.

This is written into the agreement from Oceanwide Expeditions. Overnight accommodation for this night is not included in the trip. If you are able to come a day or two earlier I would encourage it. Reason being is that there are limited flights to / from Ushuaia. Last fall there were unexpected air strikes with Aerolinas Aregntinas Airlines which caused a lot of delays and delays = stress. We had one GLTer miss the trip entirely at the last minute due to flight cancelations. No one wants that! Also there tends to be some more discounts and options to use a lot less frequent flyer miles if you come a little early or stay a day or two after.

- Departures:
Oceanwide Expeditions encourages choosing departure flights on December 24th no earlier than 1pm.  The ship will arrive back in Ushuaia and all will exit the boat after breakfast. If you have a flight out that same day, you can take the courtesy bus supplied by Oceanwide Expeditions to the airport. Since this is Antartica, there is a chance that weather might cause delays - which is why the company encourages that after-lunch flight time just in case.

** Ushuaia Hotels **

There are a lot of hostels and hotels in Ushuaia. These are two I stayed at last year and can vouch for them.

Arakur Resort & Spa  - amazing views, infinity pool to die for, huge breakfast buffet ... tends to be pricey and takes a while to get into town but there is a free shuttle. This is LUX and extremely relaxing. But again not really easy to get to. Make sure to ask for an even room number for an ocean view. One girl said odd numbers were unlucky for her on check in so that they would move her to an even room. And that worked!! LOL If you don't stay here, try and befriend someone who is so you can visit the pool!

Los Naranjos Hotel  - reasonably priced no-frills hotel very close to luggage drop off and the main grocery market, less than 10min walk to the center of town and 15-20 min walk to ship departure. Beds were comfy and it was safe and clean but nothing special. Especially after Arakur. Loved how close it was for luggage drop off / pick up tho - about 2 blocks away.

** Rentals **

What to take and what to wear??    I will get you information about the suggested company Oceanwide works with for rental gear.  A LOT of the GLTers last year opted for rentals. The quality is really good, and clean. They are also easy cause they bring your items to luggage drop off, and if you need to exchange a size they either have it there or on the boat to help you out. And for returns they come on the boat when you arrive so you don't have to worry about taking it elsewhere.

The one item I personally did not feel worth the rental was the much needed waterproof bag! With this rental company it comes in some of the package deals, or by itself - but most GLTers found great waterproof bag options on Amazon for much cheaper and it was not a bulky item to lug around in the suitcase.

** Complimentary Activities **

Reminder! -- All excursions and activities are complimentary.  They are weather dependent and in no way can they be guaranteed. However that being said - it is the goal of the leaders on the ship to get you all on as many excursions and activities when it is safe and possible. This trip offers the possibility of camping overnight, kayaking, snowshoeing, and zodiac boat rides, as well photography support and on-board informative lectures. This trip does NOT have mountaineering or ice climbing as an option.

** Payment Plans **

Your non-refundable deposit to hold your spot.  Thank you for that!     I will work with each of you to set up a payment plan that will help you successfully pay for this trip.

- ALL payments must be paid in FULL no later than September 30, 2021.  This is 75 days before the mandatory date of arrival on December 15, 2021.

** Cancelation / Refund Policy **

If you need to cancel for any reason at any time, please contact me right away!  Unfortunately the deposit is non-refundable.

Important Dates:

20% non-refundable deposit due to hold the spot.

Friday October 29, 2021 = 100 days before departure  - up to this date if you need to cancel you will get all of you money back except the non-refundable 20% deposit.

50% of trip cost due by Saturday October 30, 2021.

Saturday October 30, 2021 - Sunday November 21, 2021.  - Cancelations made between these dates will be responsible for 50% of the price of the requested bed  - if you paid more than 50% then any additional funds will be returned back to you.

100% of trip cost is due by Monday, November 22, 2021.

Monday, November 22, 2021 = 75 days before departure   - All payments must be made in FULL by this date.

Monday, November 22, 2021 - Saturday, February 5, 2022. - Cancelations made between these dates will be responsible for 100% of the cost of the trip   - No Refunds will be given.

Additionally please note that no refunds will be given for weather cancelations of any of the complimentary free add-on activities. This is Antarctica and part of this experience is the unpredictable weather. The staff on the ship are dedicated to do everything in their power and abilities so that you have a safe, and enjoyable experience!   You might get sea sick.  You might not camp or kayak or be able to get off the boat on certain days  - this is all a gamble due to the inconsistencies of Antarctica.   Girls LOVE Travel and Oceanwide Expeditions are not responsible for the activities you are able to do, nor are we responsible for the weather conditions you might encounter.

Egypt has been on my bucketlist for 20+ years and this trip with Bucketlist Travel blew my expectations out of the water. Everything was perfectly planned and coreographed to maximize experiences while accommodating needs for downtime. Our host, Annie, and tour guide, Yasser, were extremely knowledgeable and welcoming. I learned an incredible amount about Egypt while having a fantastic time experiencing this magical country. The food was delicious, the accomodations were five star, the excursions were amazing, and the company was fantastic - 14 brand new friends! I felt so taken care of; our tour guide tipped the bathroom attendants so we were not hassled and negotiated excellent deals for us at all shopping stops and markets, among other things. If you have any desire to go to Egypt, book this tour with all the extras. You won't regret it!

OMG!! What a fabulous trip - actually, life-changing experience. We began at The Great Pyramids of Giza and concluded by having tea with a group of Bedouins in the Sahara Desert in Jordan. Every day in between was filled with sights and experiences I had only heard/read about during my 57 years. When I first saw the itinerary for this trip, I was excited because it sounded so exotic. The trip far exceeded my expectations. Our tour guide Yasser Omar, an Egyptologist, was not only a wealth of information about every site we visited and every question we asked on any topic, but he also made Herculean efforts to fulfill the needs and desires of every member of our tour group. We also had the pleasure of having Annie Emanuelli of Bucket List Travel on our entire trip. Annie is a sweetheart. We had such a great experience on this trip that myself and several others asked Annie: What other trips do you offer? We want to go! The moment we deplaned in Cairo, a nice man from Bucket List Travel met us at the gate, escorted us through the customs process, collected our bags and put us on our clean and comfortable van for the ride to our hotel. I felt very safe and comfortable throughout this entire trip through Egypt and Jordan. I highly recommend Bucket List Travel for a visit to Egypt and Jordan, South Africa or anywhere else they travel.

Traveling with Bucket List Travel (through Girls Love Travel) exceeded my expectations in every way. We saw ALL of the sights and then some, without ever feeling overwhelmed. Yasser and Annie went out of their way to make every experience we had special and unique to our group and our individual interests. I learned so much about the history of Egypt, but I also feel like we were given the chance to get to know the amazing country that is Egypt today, their passion for the country is evident in everything they do and their love of Egypt is contagious! I hope to bring my family back someday and I wouldn't travel with anyone else.

Wow wow WOW! I wish words could convey just how incredible of a trip this was! Annie planned such an amazing itinerary that was well paced and filled with the greatest sites Egypt has to offer. We explored crazy Cairo, climbed pyramids, rode camels, relaxed on the Nile, adventured through tombs, and felt small in ancient temples. We visited artisans and craftsman who were amazing at what they do, and we enjoyed the best food. Yasser is the best tour guide EVER and is so knowledgeable, friendly, patient, and most importantly, fun! This was the trip of a lifetime and I will recommend it to anyone and everyone for the rest of my days. I cannot wait to return!
