I would be better able to evaluate the tour if it occurred. I was informed that the tour was cancelled for this year because of COVID problems in Alaska. I was told that it will be run in2023. Maybe I will be able to rate the trip then.

Our trip was cancelled due to covid, so I can't say anything about how good or bad it might have been. Kudos to the organizers for the prompt refund.

We had a most memorable experience, with interesting train excursions, expert narration on the bus, plenty of food and very good accommodations. Fall foliage was great in many places, and snow on Mt Washington not a surprise to us. Hannah and Angeli were terrific hosts, with attention to details to keep us happy!

Of fourteen rail rides over ten days, only five or six were worthy of attention. The rest were a waste if time. Food at welcome and farewell dinners was disappointing, Four of the eight included bagged breakfasts featured poorly prepared, unappetizing breakfast sandwiches. Lunches and dinners were primarily chicken or turkey with few, if any, options. Accommodations varied. Four were excellent, but two were definitely marginal. We have taken more than a dozen organized tours with various companies, including two with SIT. This was by far the most poorly organized. I would give them a D for this trip.

This trip needed a leader. While Anjali and Hannah were present, they allowed Dave from Trains to give travel information to the group which was often contradictory to the final outcome. You are in charge, Anjali, please present that way. Communication and direction were poor. For example, the breakfast location in Bar Harbor was not communicated to the group and was challenging for some people to attend. Some were unaware of the direction to leave bags outside the door of the same hotel. Multiple times the group was asked to wear their masks in the bus, but it was not enforced. I would estimate a minimum of 75% of the people on the bus were over 65 and many with compromised immune systems requiring the enforcement of masks. I was uncomfortable with alcohol being consumed on the bus. As a result of this trip, I cannot give a positive referral to friends regarding Specialty Interest Tours and I will not use them again.
