Online classes are conducted through the ZOOM video platform.
After registration, you will receive a ZOOM link for every online class for the first two weeks via your email. Then thereafter the link can be found within the Learning Management System (LMS).

These Deafhood Yoga classes communicated in fluent American Sign Language are designed to serve Deaf yoga students; including Kindred Spirits who are Allies, CDI's, CODA's, Deaf people, Interpreters and Yoga Teachers. This involves personal hands-on yoga practice to apply as your self-care to integrate your personal and professional aspects of life.

Deafhood Yoga Objective:
The immersion in this Deafhood Yoga course that is designed on a foundation to build upon, develop from and grow your internal natural skills. There is a maximum of twenty-four (24) spots in each class. MINIMUM of 5 students to activate this class.
Courses are offered: Online. Live. Anywhere. Any device. Each online yoga class is recorded live and notified to you afterward. Enjoy yoga with your Deafhood Yoga Teacher, directly in fluent American Sign Language (ASL).

Course Description: Eight Limbs of Yoga
In this blessed course, we explore the Eight Limbs of Yoga by Patanjali which is considered the “Father of Yoga”. Eight Limbs of Yoga is also known as Ashtanga, which means "Eight Limbs" often visualized like a tree. These eight steps act as guidelines on how to live a meaningful and purposeful life. They serve as a way for moral and ethical conduct and self-discipline to help you understand your inner and outer worlds.
The Eight Limbs direct your attention inward toward one's health to help you to acknowledge the spiritual aspects of your nature with love and light. Yoga means union, to unite, and union with the light of the supreme being.
The Eight Limbs of Yoga is a classical philosophy that offers a deeper foundation for all yoga practices including additional and different paths to achieve the unity of your union. The same foundation of Pranayama, Relaxation, Asanas, Lifestyle and Meditation (PRALM) applies through this scaffolded curriculum. The Eight Limbs of Yoga is experienced through these eight stages:

Classes 1 - 3:
A brief introduction of Eight Limbs of Yoga
Introduction of the First Limb: Yamas then Yamas' Five Observances:
First Observation: Ahimsa
Second Observance: Satya
Third Observance: Asteya
Fourth Observance: Brahmacharya
Fifth Observance: Aparigraha
The First Limb: Yamas deals with one’s ethical standards, sense of integrity, focusing on our behavior and how we conduct ourselves in life.

Classes 4 - 6:
Introduction of the Second Limb: Niyamas then
Niyamas' Five Observances:
First Observance: Saucha
Second Observance: Santosha
Third Observance: Tapas
Fourth Observance: Svadhyaya
Fifth Observance: Ishvara Pranidhana
The Second Limb has to do with self-discipline and spiritual observances.

Classes 7 - 8:
Introduction of the Third Limb: Asanas
The practice of Asanas is to keep our body fit, comfortable and home of our Soul.

Classes 9 - 10:
Introduction of the Fourth Limb: Pranayama
Pranayama practice supports our mind to develop the fitness, quality, and capability for concentration.

Classes 11 - 12:
Introduction of the Fifth Limb: Pratyahara
The Fifth Limb means withdrawal from external information. An opportunity to observe our cravings that interfere with our inner, spiritual growth.

Classes 13 - 14:
Introduction of the Sixth Limb: Dharana
Dharana means concentration. To entertain a particular thought for a particular period of time is concentration.

- Meditation

Classes 15 - 16:
Introduction of the Seventh Limb: Dhyana
Dhyana means Meditation and is the uninterrupted flow of concentration.
Our class structure includes more opportunities to apply, learn more and practice through:
- Pranayama
- Relaxation
- Lifestyle
- Meditation practice deepens
Classes 17 - 18:
Introduction of the Eighth Limb: Samadhi
Samadhi means integration. A state wherein the subject, object and the process become one.

- Lifestyle
- Meditation practice deepens
Classes 19 - 20:
We experience the last two classes with the full PRALM Ashtanga based practice.
