Course Description:  Eight Limbs of Yoga

In this blessed course, we explore the Eight Limbs of Yoga by Patanjali which is considered the “Father of Yoga”. Eight Limbs of Yoga is also known as Ashtanga, which means "Eight Limbs" often visualized like a tree. These eight steps act as guidelines on how to live a meaningful and purposeful life. They serve as a way for moral and ethical conduct and self-discipline to help you understand your inner and outer worlds.

The Eight Limbs direct your attention inward toward one's health to help you to acknowledge the spiritual aspects of your nature with love and light. Yoga means union, to unite, and union with the light of the supreme being.

The Eight Limbs of Yoga is a classical philosophy that offers a deeper foundation for all yoga practices including additional and different paths to achieve the unity of your union. The same foundation of Pranayama, Relaxation, Asanas, Lifestyle and Meditation (PRALM) applies through this scaffolded curriculum. The Eight Limbs of Yoga is experienced through these eight stages:

  1. यम | Yamas | Outer Attitudes
  2. नियम | Niyamas | Inner Attitudes
  3. आसन | Asanas | Postures
  4. प्राणायाम | Pranayama | Breathing
  5. प्रत्याहार | Pratyahara | Withdrawal
  6. धारणा  | Dharana | Concentration
  7. ध्यान  | Dhyana | Meditation
  8. समाधि | Samadhi | Enlightenment

*Asanas experience recommended

Namaste, the Pranayama Basics class, was phenomenal, and it is always great to go back to basics to check in with oneself. Gratefully, MB

Good morning, for my 3rd Blossom classes, I was so happy that I could make it in the class after my storm moving to my new house. I love learning how precious each chakras until the green chakras. I stopped due to my health. I tried to request an appointment with instructor for support but next day, I found out about the pills that caused me in deeply sleeping and burnt eyes. so....I tried to catch up reading from middle to now. It effect my mood, disappoint because I have been out of the loop for a long time. I can read and videotapes on my own times but just missing the spirit with group and even my instructor will move to India. Just hope that I will catch up reading all precious chakras levels on my own. I will continue with positive thinking with spiritual mind with breathing inhale and exhale. increase knowledge with words of yoga. embrace....sunshine...
