About this trip

The Low Countries of Holland and Belgium embrace the North Sea which over the centuries has become a vital part of their cultural and even physical fabric. These two small countries in Northern Europe are bursting with cultural and artistic riches, offering a journey through the Old World that is unlike any other part of Europe. The region is home to innumerable quaint towns with gravity-defying houses built on top of labyrinthine canals, golden cities with celebrated museums featuring some of history’s greatest masterpieces, fairy-tale castles, unspoiled farmland cut with waterways and dotted with windmills, and picture-perfect countryside carpeted with millions of flowers, all straight from the pages of a storybook. Fabulously historic, filled with the cutting-edge art, both old and new, the cities of Amsterdam and Bruges are full of unexpected riches: romantic canals, watery landscapes which inspired Vermeer and his contemporaries, imposing architecture and creative cuisine (topped with the world's best chocolate!), and getting to know this part of Europe offers unforgettable rewards of having truly experienced the Old World.

The trip to Greece was fabulous! Our tour leader, Anne, was wonderful. Her Greek heritage and knowledge of the locations really helped us to get the most out of the trip. The local guides were excellent, giving us enough history to enhance our tours without making it feel like a school lesson. I especially loved Crete, and want to visit again someday.

Greece is a very beautiful country and the itinerary gave us the best views. I would (& some of the others from what I've heard) would like a little more time to relax. Walking uphill over uneven terrain is exhausting in the heat. There were a couple of places where that happened and it was welcomed. We had a good group of women, everyone got along well. The portions of food I believe are meant to be shared in Greece. I saw that while I was walking around in Athens looking for a place to eat. We were given those same portions for one person and a lot of it went to waste. Can't we do something about that? How about eating family style where there are a variety of dishes and we each get what we want. That would limit the waste. Or can't we be given money and we can purchase the food ourselves? We are paying for food we don't eat. At home, when I go out I usually get an entree and if I have room, then dessert. And if it's a big portion I take the rest home. But, that is more difficult when traveling. We did share some but everyone is in the same boat so that didn't work out. I ended up not ordering an appetizer or dessert because I can't eat all that food. However, I'm paying for all of it.

This is my first time traveling with an all women's tour group. I was pleasantly surprised how fun it was, and what a great group of ladies I was able to meet. Our group was in the 60-72 year old range and all were able to keep up with the tour guides. The tour guides that Sights and Souls employs are very knowledgeable and fun! Our tour director was flexible and you could participate or not in each days activities. She also speaks Greek and knows the locals. That was a big plus! The only day I did not participate was the last day. Personally, it was a little tight for me. I felt I wouldn't have enough time to prepare, pack to get ready for a 3:15am start the next day with international travel home. Some others from our group also did not participate, so I suspect they had the same thing on their minds. Overall, the trip was wonderful and I felt we got a good flavor of Greece! I'll definitely be browsing their website, looking for another tour abroad.

As always, S&S prepared an itinerary that is as good as it gets. I always know that the hotels and restaurants will be the best available and that the places we visit are a priority to see in the region. Usually, I know something about the places that will be visited but for Croatia I had no idea. I didn’t have time to do my own research and I knew only that Split and Dubrovnik are popular cruise ship destinations and a favorite summer vacation spot for Europeans. I had a wonderful time with a fantastic guide who is familiar with the area, speaks the language, and guided the activities so we could have the best experience. As with all S&S trips I can highly recommend this one - from historic Zagreb to the beautiful Lake Region to Split and Dubrovnik it was educational and fun. Don’t miss it!

Very enjoyable trip with a lot of variety - Visting the Acropolis and the museum in Athens; sailing around Santorini with stops for swimming; wine tasting in Santorini; relaxing at the pink sand beach in Crete; taking a cooking lesson in Crete. Perfect mix of sight-seeing and relaxation. Met a lot of wonderful ladies on this trip and our tour leader Anne was fabulous!
