FAQ - Vaccinations, VISAS & Travel Notes

PASSPORTS & VISAS

  • In order to enter South Africa and Zimbabwe, U.S. and Canadian citizens need a valid passport with an expiration date extending at least six months beyond the date of reentry.
  • We recommend having at least three blank passport pages for entry stamps.
  • There is no visa required for U.S. and Canadian citizens to enter South Africa.
  • U.S. and Canadian passport holders must obtain a visa in order to enter Zimbabwe. We recommend obtaining your individual visa by purchasing it on arrival at the airport, at the cost of $50USD. You are REQUIRED TO HAVE AT LEAST 3 BLANK PASSPORT PAGES TO ENTER ZIMBABWE.
  • If you are not a U.S. or Canadian citizen, you must contact each destination country’s consulate for your specific entry requirements.

VACCINATIONS

-No COVID test or vaccination is required to leave the US or to enter South Africa or Zimbabe/Zambia.

-Currently, no vaccinations are required for this tour.

Currency & Exchanging Money

  • Currency exchange is not required, but suggested for parts of  the trip. You can exchange money at the airport in Cape Town or via ATM, withdraw in RANDS. The US dollar (USD) or Rand (ZAR) is accepted in South Africa and Zimbabwe. The US dollar is the official currency in Zimbabwe.  Cape Town & Johannesburg prefer payments in RANDS; Zimbabwe strongly  prefers US dollars.
  • Plan carry US dollars, Rand and credit cards. American Express is accepted in most large establishments such as hotels, but many smaller merchants do not accept American Express.
  • When you withdraw money from ATMS, it is usually in RAND unless you are at a bank that can provide USD.

Title: Vegan South Africa Tour with Roadmap to Holistic Health with Dr. Ruby! Destination: South Africa Travel Dates: September 12th - September 24th, 2023 Rating: ★★★★★ - At every destination, we were met by our guide and transportation, stayed at upscale hotels, and felt welcome and safe the entire trip. I can’t wait to see what tour Dr. Ruby offers next! This was truly an unforgettable, educational, and relaxing experience that earned 5 stars for Accommodations with magnificent views, Wildlife Adventure, breathtaking landscapes, dining, cultural immersion, and Safety and hospitality! I will be forever thankful to Dr. Ruby for putting this tour together and for the care and detail in planning our daily activities and accommodation. This was a bucket list trip for me and far exceeded anything I could have imagined. The trip began in Cape Town where we were greeted by our guide and transportation from the Airport to the first of the 3 beautiful 5-star accommodations of our trip. The ocean-view rooms at the Blaauwberg Beach Hotel were phenomenal with an awesome view of Table Mountain, gorgeous sunsets, and an excellent variety of food choices for vegans or meat eaters! I loved how Dr. Ruby expertly intertwined health with the cultural and historical experience in everything we did. From Historic Robben Island to Table Mountain, The Cape of Good Hope, Wine Tasting, the beaches at Camps Bay, and BO-Kapp, our guides Francois and Bongani, were extremely knowledgeable about the Culture, and history and provided exceptional insight and readily answered questions from our group. Dr. Ruby also arranged all the intra-country flights we flew from Cape Town to Kruger, from Kruger to Zambia, and from Zambia to Johannesburg. At every location, the hotels were 5 stars. Kruger was especially nice because it was as if you truly were communing with nature. The monkeys ran on the rooftops or jumped from tree to tree; you could eat lunch by the infinity pool with the elephants grazing right there in front of you and dinner under the open starlit sky. Our Safari guide, Edgar, was the best and to say awe-struck doesn’t begin to describe the experience. The animal in their natural habitat, just walking around your vehicle. You could reach out and touch them, they were so close, but I did not! This was the perfect place and point on our trip to recharge and reconnect, which Dr. Ruby ensured we did with a mini-retreat and grounding session. On to the next adventure…. We flew into Zambia for a trip to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, and experience of a lifetime, even I can’t believe I did it, literally swam and sat on the edge of the world’s longest waterfall. It was beautiful. There were four guides, I’m sure for our safety as well, great food afterward a walk through the rain forest side from Zambia to see where I was hanging from… just to put things in perspective. The beauty and peace are indescribable. The Elephant Hill Resort, another 5-star accommodation arranged by our host Dr. Ruby, had breathtaking views with a golf course, spa, and again a vast selection of food. Our final day and a half would be in Johannesburg or Joburg fondly referred to with accommodation at @sandton Hotel. I learned more history as we toured Soweto and toured Nelson Mandela’s former home and gained a glimpse into his life and his family. I learned the city of Atlanta made his wife Minnie an honorary citizen of the city. The tour to Soweto touched my heart. Thank you, Dr. Ruby, for such an extraordinary experience.
