Join us in Scotland for a trip filled with two of our favorite things - Wool & Whisky! We will wander the streets of Edinburgh, explore the Kingdom of Fife and immerse ourselves in the Scottish Highlands. We will stay in a variety of cozy inns and traditional hotels, visit some of Mary Queen of Scots’ favorite haunts, see kilt making in action, and sample a few wee drams of whisky along the way. UNESCO World Heritage Woolen Mills, Di Gilpin’s modern take on gansey knitting and visits to multiple yarn dyers and producers will satisfy your woolly itch - not to mention a trip to some adorable Angora goats! The Scottish Yarn Festival and a talk by the editor of the Journal of Scottish Yarns will be the icing on the tartan cake…

EDINBURGH
Welcome to Scotland! Arrive whenever you like on the 5th and explore Edinburgh at your leisure from our hotel located just at the edge of the city center. See the Castle, or the Palace, or just wander The Royal Mile between them. We will be on hand to answer any questions and make recommendations. We will gather in the lobby at 4pm on the first day for a meet & greet and tour orientation and perhaps a wee dram or a cuppa if it suits your fancy. The next two days will be spent exploring the Edinburgh wool scene with a foray out to the UNESCO World Heritage Mill at New Lanark for added measure. A Yarn Crawl to our favorite neighborhood shops, behind the scenes at a kiltmakers, and visits to a couple of our secret haunts in Auld Reekie. The grand finale of our stay will be a paired whisky tasting dinner and a talk by Susan Anderson of The Journal of Scottish Yarns.
